KaapseKind's Journal, 21 Jan 21

Hi guys and gals, I did not weigh in today but just wanted to write a journal update.
So, I felt really unwell on Day 7 of my water fast, that's why I broke the fast. It started with really sharp pain in my right side and under my ribcage. The pain then spread to my back and eventually it was from my lower back all the way to the coccyx area. It was excruciating and totally debilitating.
Broke the fast with just 6 cashews and some veggie broth. The pain became so bad that I was sweating and crawling around on my bed. I could not sit, lie or stand. I cannot even describe the pain I was in. Hardly slept the night, and woke up in the same pain yesterday. My sister in law insisted to take me to a doctor, but I went to a Chiropractor instead, knowing that the doctor can do nothing but prescribe pills.
It turns out (1.) I should not have done the fast OR the exercise while still recovering from Covid - my liver and muscles went into major trauma and that was the pain under my ribcage and back. (2.) My one leg is shorter than the other one (I have been struggling with this hip for 2 years now). Walking is out for me, and doing any dumbbell training for at least a month, until the inflammation is all gone. I have received electrotherrapy, acupuncture needling and re-alignment of my whole body. Never heard so many bones crack, omw!!!
Bottom line is I am booked off again, got exercises to do and must go back next weekend. I am now doing IF starting slowly with 14-10, and will increase fasting safely every week with an hour less eating until I am on 18-6.

Thanks Totem. I have to listen to my own advice more and be kind to mysel. 😉 The good news is that the fasting completely obliterated the Covid bug(ger), haha!

Kaapsekind, I'm really happy for you and your family that you all recovered. I think it's a bit irresponsible of you to attribute recovering from the virus to fasting though - even jokingly. Usually most people recover after two weeks anyway (those of us who are lucky). I would hate for people to think that they can fast and 'obliterate' the virus as you put it. I think the body needs nourishment while fighting it so I hope people will take their own doctor's advice and not just somebody on a weight loss app. I wish you all the best though!

Hi Nikina, I appreciate your comment. When I started fasting I was really struggling with my lungs and extreme fatigue (on 6 different medications), and that disappeared completely (off the meds). Fasting is most certainly not a cure for Covid by any means, and I would advise anyone else against it. Like I said, it was irresponsible of me to do the fast and I now have other things that went wrong from the fast. But I don't have a struggle to breathe anymore, and the fatigue is gone. I will delete the comment if it offends you. That was not my intention with the comment at all.

Thank you for your response Kaapsekind. I do appreciate it. No need to delete anything. I hope you continue healing and get back to full health and are painfree again soon!
