07 January 2019

I had a really good HIIT cardio workout today; felt strong and I was able to push myself hard. A bit surprised about where that came from, but whatever. Eating has been clean, managed to sail over the temptation of cake and chips over the last week.

Meat free Monday today: Green vegetable curry (though it doesn't look green) with cauli-rice, kale, coleslaw, and a mixed salad. Also had some yoghurt with slightly cooked apples, flax bread (from Woolies) with choc macadamia butter, and coffee. I've started taking a multivitamin as well to supplement anything I might be lacking.

Made a decision to quit sugar (except fruit, of course) this year. I'm hoping to avoid all sugar, even on birthdays or special occasions. I don't ever really crave it, but once I've had some, it's all my body wants 😒. I've found the sugar substitute that works for me and I don't even use it everyday. Another goal for the year is to be a size 34 jeans by Winter this year. I'm officially a size 38 at the moment (finally went out and bought jeans that fit) and I'm happy with the progress, but not yet satisfied 😅. Hoping to hit goal weight by June this year too.

I hope you have all had a good start to the year 😉!!!

Meat-free Monday meal. Still had eggs a bit of cheese, though, but I'm pretty sure that counts as vegetarian. Disappointed in today's gain, but at the same time I'm not surprised. Trying to stay positive, though. I have planned a "cheat day" tomorrow to get rid of all the leftover Christmas treats and gifts still hanging around. I feel bad throwing it out or giving it away (especially what was given as gifts 😔), so I'm going to use them up and share, of course.

Starting anew on Wednesday, with new goals for 2019. Still want to reach 65kg (at least) , but more practically, I want to be a size 34 jeans by Winter 2019. A bit ambitious, but I think I can do it.

2018 has been a good year for me, in many aspects, including weight loss. Didn't really count, but I think I lost around 12kg throughout the year, and have taken solid steps to building a healthy lifestyle and relationship with food and exercise that I can carry out for the rest of my life.

I don't really believe in a New Year's resolutions, because a new year doesn't magically bring one success. But I do think that the start of a new year can be a great time to evaluate the past, learn from it, and make plans for the future. I want to become more intentional with my aspirations. May all your plans and efforts prosper in 2019.

Happy 2019 everyone!!! 😊

26 December 2018

Hope everyone had a great Christmas (if you celebrate it).

Mine was good, though I must admit that I'm glad the holidays are almost up. I've eaten so much, indulged in all the wrong stuff, that I'm really just ready to get back to my usual. Got back to my regular schedule today with some HIIT cardio and a relatively low carb OMAD meal (yes, even that roll you see there is low carb, technically). Seems like a lot, but I'm just trying to get rid of left overs. I ended up not eating all of the chicken, though, so that'll be for tomorrow.

I'm really anxious about stepping on the scale at the end of the month, because I feel like I have gained quite a bit. Mentally preparing myself for it, but I'm going to try and minimize the damage as much as I can over these next few days. Just eating clean and working out, with a healthy mind set (i.e not punishing myself for the last month).

Next year, I'll need to come up with a game plan for tackling the festive season without the excessive indulgences.
