I've had a few days now off the carnivore challenge. I have loaded blueberry bushes and blackberry canes in my yard. I've been harvesting and freezing and eating these scrumptious berries. They are definitely not keto or carnivore, but irresistible, so I'm taking a break. I haven't gone carb crazy, but eaten enough berries to stall my ketosis and my weight loss. Next week, starting in a few days, I'll be on vacation with my kids and grandkids, I'll stay keto, because I just don't eat grains or sugar anymore, but I'm sure there will be no losses for the next 10 days or so. Also, It's birthday month in our family - 4 leos. My plan is to have whipped cream and berries when everyone else is eating cake and ice cream. Since I have Celiac and carb intolerance, I'm used to this.

Muscle is important to longevity. We need increased muscle as we age which comes with increased protein, and resistance training. Low muscle leads to rapid ageing. We also need autophagy to clean up aging cells, which we get through daily or longer fasting. So higher quality protein, timed in a way to allow for the autophagy. Fast 14 hours, work out fasted, followed by high protein. Dr. Hyman explains this in depth at hour 1.04.5 of this video. He explains well, how to build muscle through fasting and exercise, with timing and amounts.
It's a good interview altogether that covers many topics of healthy ageing, but this spot synthesized the protein/fasting questions for me.

Wow, these fluctuations are aggravating! I went out to dinner for my husband's 80th birthday. We went to a steakhouse, so I could stay on my carnivore WOE. I had a couple of spoonfuls of the mashed potato that mixed into the gorgonzola sauce. It was delicious, but I guess enough carbs to cause some water gain. No wine, no desert, I thought I did pretty well. It'll come off again, soon. Fasting today.

I'm happy to see very little bounce after last week's 72 hour fast. When not fasting, I'm eating on the BBB&E, carnivore plan, though I've subbed in some pork for beef. NSV yesterday I was walking my dogs and I felt light on my feet and full of energy! Of course it doesn't hurt that the oppressive humidity has broken.
