That's the problem I also had. Don't go on a diet. Change your lifestyle to basically BE a balanced diet. Good luck. May the Force be with you :P

I lost 15kg over a 6 months with exercise and portion control. Maintained for a year. Now gained 5 again due to Christmas season and stress eating. Don't give up but remember diet should be lifestyle and don't forget exercise. You have to activate your metabolism to burn fat. Weights and cardio

Thank you for all for the support. At 43 I should know better than to do fad diets, eating almost nothing, i won it on a competition so I thought I might use it. When I did not lose enough, I felt ashamed... they never even bothered with the “reveal” because they were hoping for more than 10! Crazy!. I stress I will bump into one of them and they will see that I gained everything and more. None the less, I am determined. I booked 6 sessions with private exercise coach today... a total luxury but thought I would rather spend on something life improving than on another “thing”. Thank you for the motivation and encouragement. @jespes26 stay strong! Any ideas on how to find a lifestyle “diet” .. I know that is probably not the point but when left to my own devises... I am able to rationalize anything I eat as being “lifestyle” and before I know it I am 10kg up again ...

My lifestyle changed which helped me to maintain my weight for a year includes *avoiding sugary things and cut back on sugar wherever possible (chocolate is my weakness). I only drink one sugar or no sugar in coffee once a day. I don't buy chocolates or cookies (though now with Christmas it seems it's all ppl games every us). I drink fruit juice but I use it as a concentrate just so it tastes better than wayer. * try to only eat starch once a day preferably at breakfast. I have a very slow metabolism so any carbs I eat I tend to store unless I am active. Also if I eat carbs in the morning I am hungry all day but I have learnt to tell myself it's not real and keep busy to forget. Or drink water when I feel hungry as we often mistake thirst for hunger * eat yogurt almost daily to aid digestion - seems to help with bloating for me * eat dinner of a side plate. Due to time I do make our main meal for the day as dinner although it would be better as a breakfast. But by eating from a side plate I force myself to eat smaller portions. I found that I could eat pretty much every thing as long as I reduced the quantity. Portion control was the biggest thing for me. My weight gain recently was because my rules and portion control went put the window due to a very stressful time in my life and me comfort eating and not really caring about myself anymore. Now I am coping emotionally again I need to work a bit harder to get back to where I was but I am confident I will. Also for the time I was maintaining I only exercised once a week maybe and then just yoga so I wasn't really doing enough to activate my metabolism. My exercise routine was broken and I hate exercise so getting back into it was near impossible until now. This week exercised 4 times already so winning 😀😀
