Inching ever closer to one-derland. Boggles my mind. A long way to go to get to goal, but have come further than I ever thought possible. Getting off blood pressure meds is a huge motivator and far more effective for me than past attempts where the primary motivation was wanting to look better.
At 62, grey haired and and having been frumpy for decades, looks no longer enter into the equation. It's all about getting rid of blood pressure meds and statins. I'm not sure if that is achievable as my teeny tiny muscular mom (she had pipes and a six pack that she always hid as it wasn't considered to be feminine back in the day) had hypertension starting in her mid 40's. Dad had hypercholesterolemia starting in his mid 50's. I've done the genetic health testing and bear the gene that predisposes me to it as well. I also have another gene that predisposes me to weight 10% more than average.
How things change once one takes the decision to finally put health above all else. Must give much credit to my endocrinologist at the bariatric clinic Dr Orlov and my nutritionist Kyle as well. Were it not for the dietary counselling, and then starting Oz in June, the food noise that I've lived with for my entire life, would have totally scuttled this go round yet again. Obsessing over gummy spearment leaves whilst doing weight work at the gym is a thing of the past. Food obsessions and constant thoughts regarding food in general are gone. Might I have to be on this medication for life? Perhaps. If it helps me to combat the noise and stick to a healthy eating plan for the rest of my life, then so be it. I don't want to go back to where I was ever again.

What is Oz? Ive lived with food noise since i was in my 20’s. I do know what started it. Don’t know how to stop it, tho it’s a dull roar these days but i am aware it could come back in like a lion stalking its prey. We are pretty close in age. Im so happy you are making progress. You will feel younger, stronger and powerful as you keep getting healthier. But i do want to know what Oz is?

O O O Ozempic. A medication that acts on GLP1 receptors to quell food noise, lower A1C, combat insulin resistance, increase satiety by slowing gastric emptying. There is so much hype and misinformation out there. It is not a quick fix as CICO, increase in protein intake, cutting of carbs + exercise particularly building lean muscle mass is a key to success even with its' use. Many users go to the highest dose and don't do the work. They rely on the side effects of nausea and abysmally low calric intake to do the job for them. I am tackling this as the makers intended...do what I've done countless times before. Diet and exercise except that now the food noise and terrible feelings of deprivation that used to compel me to go badly off track each and every time is gone. I'm on a low dose and have no nausea as I eat regularly. Still have an appetite and enjoy my meals. Actually have real hunger pangs vs. emotional or hormonal driven urges. I now eat on a schedule as well. There are alternatives like Rybelsus that may also combat the beast and is likely the route I will go once at maintenance as it is more of a take as needed option as I understand it (more research by me needed and will talk to my endo about maintenance). The food noise has been lifelong and I'm under no illusion that once off the drug it won't come raging back. Am planning accordingly. My endo says that there is research and development being done to target ghrelin and leptin issues solely, but for now, Oz for me is nothing short of a miracle.
