Good afternoon FS friends

Been busy this past week. Spring has sprung. Much as I favour pollinators, the yard was getting out of hand with weeds so needed to start tackling that. Not only are the weeds thriving, so are the perennials. My bleeding hearts are already blooming (a month early)

Sent John home so I could finish painting the river room. So close to done. It has been a monumental task and am glad that the vision of it I had is coming to fruition.

Saw another concert last week with my friend - a male a cappella group named Straight No Chaser. Quite good. Another one to see on Tuesday next- Fifth Dimension.

Getting excited for what's ahead. My goddaughter whom I've never met is coming for a visit from Estonia for 4 days starting the 12th. Sounds strange, but in our culture there is generally a primary godparent that lives locally and another that lives remote. Might have something to do with times when most families were separated by the iron curtain to retain the familial connection. In our family, just mom, dad and I lived in freedom. All other relatives were behind the curtain. Have much to show her both in the region, in Toronto and maybe even a hop over to Buffalo. Odds are it will be a period of libation and excess calories given our time out and about. So be it. I've worked this program now for 14 months. A few days of non optimal consumption will be manageable.

Good morning FS friends,

Getting excited! Another major milestone is in sight. Another few weeks and 1.2 more lbs and that 100lbs lost might be on the books. Fingers and toes crossed. Then again, everytime a milestone is in sight my body doesn't always want to comply, or I change my diet a smidge and cause a slowdown. Note to self...much as I love oatmeal, even if consumed within my caloric allowance, something happens and weight loss stalls. So no oatmeal for me. Maybe that will be a maintenance food.

This weight loss journey is such a science experiment...what works, what doesn't. We are so unique as to how we metabolise food. Carbs, particularly grain based carbs just don't work for me. Such a shame as I love bread/baked goods and of course oatmeal. Always have, likely always will. Know now though that if down the road I have any it must be very limited. Is my health worth the give up? I believe so.

Over and out.

Happy Sunday FS friends

So John's last test the eBUS is now done. Biopsies and images taken. Results should be in by May 9th.

Today I mowed the lawn. Had to as it was getting long with the cool weather and ton of rain. Part tractor mow, part push mow, part weightlifting as the tractor got stuck in the mud. Certain that my orthopaedic surgeon would not approve as the limit is 50lbs with a prosthetic hip, but sometimes you do what you have to do.

Off to the Casino to see a Simon and Garfunkel tribute this afternoon thanks to my friend who keeps getting free tickets.

Been good on the calorie containment front this week. Have discovered a love for pomelos thanks to a picture posted by another user on FS. Had never heard of them before but have discovered that the fruit is not as acidic as grapefruit and not as sweet as an orange. That it's a workout to actually get at the fruit (at least with these ruby red ones) makes it a perfect evening snack whilst watching TV.

And so it goes.

Over and out
