Ieksie's Journal, 27 Jan 22

Hello all.

So yesterday I needed a break. I took hubby to Ocean Basket for dinner.
I had Kingklip & salad, but also had wine. I honestly feel better & refreshed today. I'm kinda weird in that way. If I tell myself I can't do this or can't have that, then I start obsessing about that one thing & it takes over my whole being. When I do things in moderation then I do better in the long run.

I did not go for my 4 km walk yesterday, but managed my 2 km lunch walk & ended up doing 13375 steps.

@Richard & @Coco... sorry guys, I really tried.

Hi - apologies, this is not food related. I see you stopped smoking last year. Any advice? How did you do it, any methods or cold turkey?

@chrisnair... I did indeed. I read Allen Carr's book, "The easy way to stop smoking". And yes, after reading the book I went cold turkey. I would recommend the book over & over & over again. I've tried many times before to quit, but always went back to ciggies. But this time it stuck. It's been 9 months and 1 week today actually.

You did well! You chose the healthier option at the restaurant (no chips). You did walking on your lunch break and you got lots of steps in!

P.s: I don't miss or crave ciggies at all. I did gain some weight, but that's okay. I'm soooo glad I stopped smoking. For the first time in many years I can actually live my life without having to worry about when I'm gonna have my next cigarette. It was all I could think about for a very long time. My whole life would evolve around that next ciggie.

Thanx @SuperRiotPanda, funny enough, I'm not a big fan of chips anyway. I never order chips. I usually go for the rice.

@Leksie I think you're doing a GREAT job. Honestly. I completely agree with you about not having this or not having that. It's very tough. All things in moderation. I also have days where a slab of chocolate or a cupcake or something sweet calls out to me at the top of it's voice.🤣🤣🤣 It's rude not to answer.🤣🤣🤣 Honestly I think you're doing so so well. This is an incredibly difficult journey. YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE IT.🎉🎉🎉

Well, I work in a lab, but my HR friend who only sits at her table brings her running shoes with her to work, puts them on lunch time & takes them off again when we are finished. It might look a bit funny if you wearing office attire, but who cares, right? You're doing it for your health.

@leksie, so you and your friend walk for how long during your lunch break?

From 12:00 to 12:30. That's our lunch break.

So to answer properly, if we walk slow we take the whole 30 minutes. if we walk a bit faster, we walk 20 minutes.
