I have a random question for the tall ladies (and short ladies are also free to share their experiences of course) of the FS family. I often see people say things like "I've gone down 8 dress sizes!" And then I think to myself... Wow. Is that true? Because myself, as a tall lady who is almost 6 ft, even when I lost 20kg, I did not go down a dress size or even a pants size. I just looked a lot better in the dresses that I had but I even looked good in them when I was heavier too. But when I was buying new dresses, I was still buying the same size. The internet says to "go down a dress size" you need to lose approximately 5-8kg. By that logic, I should have been down about 3 or 4 dress sizes in the past. Which is not the case. The only reason I can think of which explains this, is my height. I feel like I would need more drastic weight loss to see a "change in dress size". I would love to hear your opinions. Does anyone else experience this?

Hi! I am short 1.63 and lost almost 20kgs since last May. I wore a size 38 pants, but I was overflowing in it. I now wear a size 34 and I am very comfortable in it. I count that I lost 2 sizes as 38 and 36 are the sizes I lost, maybe some count the in between 37 and 35 as well😂

I'm tall. I am 1.8 and I went down from a size 60 to a 44 after a 45kg weight loss. Have you measured yourself? You are probably losing inches.

Oh well done! That's truly amazing both of you... I'm a size 34 but I've always been a size 34 even after weight-loss... But perhaps this time I'll drop a size...

RozanaMax thank you for the advice about the inches. I actually don't measure that enough to say

I think dress size can have a disproportionate influence on how we see ourselves. I used to work in a clothing store as a student and women would lie all the time about what size they wanted because they felt embarrassed when I was folding jeans to ask me to hand them one from my pile. They would ask for an 8 or a 10 when I could, with an experienced eye, see that they'd feel better in a 12 or 14 or even 16. Height is part of it but also curves vary. how many of us have put on a pair of jeans squashing them over the hip bits only to end up with a practical paddling pool round the middle bit. or fits fine till you bend over and they fall down to expose some plumber's crack. I've always been a titless-wonder which, don't get me wrong, has its advantages. But a very tall friend (6.4) gave me a beautiful vintage evening dress she can no longer fit and when I tried it on it wasn't just a lack of boob that needed to fill the saggy bit on me but a whole lot of lady between the curvey part for the hips and the halter neck. clearly it was tailor made for a taller person. Tailor made is a key word. judge how you progress by how well you wear preferred clothing. we are too influenced by premade fashions modelled for us on skinny plastic store dummies or Photoshopped photos...oh and I think most women are funny in-between sizes like 33/35/37/41

StarRat this is beautiful and so so very true... thank you for opening my eyes and sharing this with us 💜 each type of body is wonderful and you need to love and respect what you have and not try to place yourself in a metaphorical pre-made box

So I can't say but I'm taller than average, 176cm and having lost 10-12 kgs (depending on the day haha) I'm still only down barely one dress size, I was a tight 42 and now I'm an extremely tight 40 haha.

our body shapes are all so different, that it's hard to know where some people lose the weight. I am 1.63, have lost almost 25kg. I went from pants 18 (some cuts this was too tight so I just never brought them home from the shop). I now fit into a 12 skinny leg pant. tops from XXL to medium. My sister lost between 60kg & 70kg from bariatric surgery and went from a 42 to probably an 8 or 10.(XXXL top to medium and small). if you're losing more than 50kg you're going to need a whole closet makeover.

CF931 , we are in the same boat. i'm 178cm and i currently weigh 81kg. i think us tall people can get away with more weight. i'm also buying tshirt and tops that are like 40/42. my problem is the tummy area. i don't like my clothes tight, so if i buy bigger to fit my tummy, there is some space by the boobies as i'm like a B, but chest around is like a 40. jip, big chest, small boobies :-) was down to 76kg until Nov, then December holiday happened and just went up from there. Just trying again now

I am 175cm with a large bone structure. When I was younger (pre babies) I would go between a 32 and 34 size. Nowadays in a 40 and 38 (tight or with stretch) and although I can feel the weight loss and see it.. The size has not changed and is not a whole lot looser (but some).
