Not feeling so good, unofficial weight is 67kg’s. Don’t know how accurate it is see that the scale i have to use is very inaccurate.

I have a friend visiting me for a few days and my self esteem has been shot. My friend doesn’t like people who are on diets because she thinks they are only doing it to please men.
I haven’t told her about the diet I’m on and she’s been snarky about me eating salads.

Mood has been shot down
Hoping for a few kilos lost in a few weeks

you are a independent person and it is your right to look after your health. Just continue as if what you are doing is totally natural. this will def confuse her.

I agree with Sallywu! I have a friend that started losing weight after a terrible divorce, she has inspired our circle of friends in such a position way that we are now all taking better care of ourselves. Regardless of your reasons for starting, the people closest to you should support you! Hang in there, you've got this!

Are we allowed to swear on here? Cause my answer would be a lot more colourful...regardless I’d tell your mate to go suck it, do t let other people define your reasons, and don’t let them make you doubt your goals.

Regardless of your reason, making healthier life choices and taking care of yourself is always a great thing. Just keep going and pay no mind to what anyone else has to say.

I saw your post earlier and thought... I don't have to comment because my friends are not like that. Just came from a braai where my wife and I received a fair share of remarks, "why don't you have some coke?", "you don't need a diet", "really now..?", etc. But these friends are not bad friends. Sometimes people act this way when they are guilty of not doing what you are doing. No one is dumb enough to say, coke is healthy for you or new diets to lose weight is pointless. We all know right from wrong, we're born with this. You're taking steps towards what you're believing is right and good for you. Guilt will make people act stupid sometimes, and we've all been there, hence now we're here. 😅

Thx guys, i know I’m doing this for the right reasons, because I’m sick of being the bigger friend. Things like this just really bring me down and i should not be friends with people who do not support me. Thx for the advice

Shake off your friends negativity and get back to your healthy lifestyle. Do it for yourself❣

I know what you mean about friends who can be really snarky about the lifestyle and diet you choose. I have chosen to ignore them and you should ignore your friend. She should be supporting you, not pressuring you. You just carry on doing what you are doing and let her SEE the results with her own eyes.

is she a friend when she does not support you?

People like to see you do well, but not better than them...

If your friend can't support your choice then that's not a friend at all. Tell her to save those snark comments for herself when she looks in the mirror and gets real with herself. Carry on with your diet and put it in her face. 2018 you can't be having these bad friendships. As long as the diet is a healthy one and not a fad, you go ahead and do it.
