Good morning FS friends
Had a super experience yesterday. Was planting some rescued specimens from the clearance table at a local nursery. At one point, I was standing between two Rose of Sharon bushes that are currently blooming. Lo and behold, a hummingbird came and started to feast on the nectar of the blooms. This little bird was no more than two feet from my face at eye level. I'm sure he/she knew I was there and simply didn't care. What a beautiful little creature.
I love how when you least expect it, the universe rewards you with such an ephemeral event. Totally made my day.
On to food...so I was at Costco the other day. After 3 years of not carrying one of my favourite treats, cinnamon danishes, they decided to make them again. Boy was I pissed. That kind of thing is totally off the table for me now and odds are will forever be. Might I at some point be able to have one? Maybe, but a Costco pack, if it enters the house, all of it will enter my body. If I want to get to healthy weight and stay there, my thinking needs to change.
The hard part is internalising that food cannot be a source of joy now, or ever. I am not one of those people that can eat in moderation especially when presented with foods I have loved in the past. Easiest to avoid them altogether. (cussing Costco as they have the gall to put the baked goods right in front of the vegetable cooling room)
On the flip side, am going to look at a used older boat today. Living on the river and loving the water as I do, it makes sense that this be the next step. If I end up with a boat, next year I'll apply for a dock permit and have one installed. (The Niagara Parks Commission owns and manages the waterfront which is why a permit is needed)
Diversifying my interests away from food and eating will serve me well in the long term.
Over and out
