Good Sunday morning FS friends

Am wondering why Joe Not Exotic has gone invisible? I found him to be such an inspiration but poof, he's gone.

Do any of you have insight into this?

I would hate to think that my starting Ozempic has anything to do with it, but that might be the case and he might have blocked me.

The perception of users of Oz is that it is cheating thanks to social media and celebrity use. Why it would be viewed any differently than a blood pressure medication to control high blood pressure, or glasses to improve sight is beyond me. For anybody wondering, Oz is not a magical weight loss solution that you just take and it causes weight loss. For some maybe, like those with insuln resistance, or those at a high dose causing nausea and food aversion.

For me, it is another tool. In my case to help with food noise and feelings of satiation. I have no nausea, still feel hunger and enjoy food. (Lately chili and cherries....not at the same time). I am glad that these medicines are becoming available as obesity is a chronic and costly disease causing physical and mental health damage. Wish they had been an option 40 years ago.

Nothing about food intake planning and monitoring, or exercise has changed for me. Still doing what I've done, but ghrelin and leptin hormones aren't fighting my efforts any more. There is no easy button, the work still needs to be done. Doing this though, with food noise gone does simplify things as it has been exactly that issue that has scuttled all previous attempts at achieving normal BMI.

Things that make you go hmmm.

Over and out.

It’s not a cheat, as some might want to think. With the right support, monitoring and mentoring, lifestyle changes it leads to improved diabetes management. One can only lose weight with a plan. I hesitantly accepted taking Ozempic too and had already started making lots of changes in my diet, activity, self care. A dieter I am not, never have been. I monitor my carbs and that is likely the biggest challenge and goal achieved everyday. My AIC has dropped and my goal by Christmas is to be off all these meds. The complications related to health problems we face as we age are just not worth it. Anything we can do to better control them for ourselves is worth the effort. 🙂

Why would you think he had a problem with ozempic users? He announced when there was an issue with a mean person who got blocked finally by fs that he was going to pull away but then decided to stay. I dont think he is judgemental about any method one is using that is healthy in losing weight. Just my opinion. Maybe he needed a break. This can be pretty addictive in some ways. Reading all the posts. Etc. Ive seen him truly try and help over and over over so dont think it is you.

@ year of health I have no clue what you’re referring to? I was merely commenting with positive support and kindness to Annisworkinginit choices. I was not responding to a previous user’s profile, current or absent that I have no knowledge of? Ozempic is a great complement to any individual’s treatment plan. I appreciate everyone’s time they give here on FS to share their experiences, success, struggles not to mention the humour, photos along the journey. That’s it, that’s me …. plain, simple. Mean spirited I am not.

Hey Angie, welcome to the club. Same for me, 180 degree change in what I eat (lower carbs) how often I eat (4 times a day) and how much I eat (smaller portions more veg) and how I eat (with deliberation and for at least 20 minutes each meal). I did this for months pre Oz and it worked as I was losing consistently. It was excruciatingly hard though. Obsessing over gummy spearmint leaves at the gym or wanting to hit the burger truck and having a mental battle with myself to not do it. Post Oz, there are no food fixations which for me is a blessing and will help keep me on track as there is still a loooooong way to go. Lets my brain focus on more useful things.

Just curious. Is Ozempic expensive? I spoke with my doc the other day but it was just mentioned and now I am thinking it might be the way to go. Would love to turn off that voice that says I need the chocolate covered gummies.

Hey Livin_Doll. It entirely depends on where you live, who your insurance carrier is and what group plan you're on. Some cover it partially, others not at all unless you are a T2 Diabetic. If paying out of pocket, in some countries it can cost $1000/pen (US) Once past the titration stage 1 pen is usually good for 4 weeks if you re at the maximum dose. Other countries are a bit cheaper than the US at 300-500/pen. At issue is availability as Oz is in short supply in many parts of the world. The majority of people that use GLP1 agonists find that their A1C is much improved to the degree that their T2 is in remission. Others like me who are not diabetic but have other progressively chronic health issues due to obesity are prescribed this by bariatric clinics and endocronologists. When Oz is used in conjunction with exercise and major dietary changes, it results in weight loss. I'm sure the excercise and dietary changes sound familiar, but for people like me who have worked some form of this program for decades only to fail due to food noise, having that noise go away, and feeling satiety when eating is a total game changer.
