So I can't say I'll ever fall in love with biking, but I did meet a few women to bike with. It makes it so much more enjoyable! I'm also going to start swimming with them, so future triathlete? Time will tell.

My foot is in a weird stage where my plantar fascia almost feels itchy. Like I need to massage it. Maybe this is a sign of heeling? PT appt later today for more ankle strengthening!

Have a good Tuesday folks

oh plantar fasciitis is so tough!! my dad had it, with a herniated disc in his back... i used to have to massage his feet and help him with socks and shoes. what a time that was. i hope you are healing quickly!!

Thanks Dazey! This is my second time with it, the first I also got it from running. The first time is also completely derailed my running for over a year. This time I'm trying to be so much better 😬😬 that's so nice that you helped your dad out with it! I tried asking my hubby for a foot massage and it felt like he was stabbing me so now it's just my own fingers 😂

Asarver— if it is possible see if you can see a sports medicine doctor/physical therapist. They deal with athletes who want not only a cure for their issue but preventative measures. They can even help you choose the best shoes for the activities you participate in. I cannot tell you how Important the correct shoes are.

The only thing that helped mine was acupuncture. Pain was gone from the moment I rolled off the table.

Thanks, Kenna. I am seeing a PT!

JustBananas, I don't think I could do acupuncture 😬😬 that's awesome it worked for you!

And what does plantar fasciitis feel like? A gazillion needles stabbing your heels? So why fear acupuncture needles? They're actually so skinny you barely feel them at all. When you arrive here in California for the race, look for a practice that offers a new patient discount and give it a try. It's popular here for a reason 💚🏝️

Ah, JustBananas, for me it feels like my arch is sore and then every once in awhile like someone is pounding an inch wide hammer through my heel 😅😂

I absolutely love biking. Maybe one day you will too! My body is tailored for a bike and running leaves me hurting due to previous injuries. There is something amazing to me about how fast and far we wan travel on this human powered machine. My grandfather was an avid cyclist. Sometimes I’ll zone out during one of my rides and end up maintaining a higher heart rate than I can when I’m actively trying to push myself super hard. I like to think I’m channeling him on those rides.

Foggystorm, I love that you have that connection with him! I agree, it's amazing how far we can go on a bike. I've done 21 miles this week already, and I still have a booking session tomorrow! 21 miles in running is almost a full week worth of running! But I love running, it'll always be my number 1. So long as I don't keep getting injured 😬

There are so many schools of thought when it comes to treating/recovering from Plantar Fasciitis - I had it in my early 20's when I was running half-marathons. I had a few cortisone injections and took about six months off. I experienced an itching/burning sensation as well! But back to schools of thought: some PT's make the argument that shoes actually contribute to plantar fasciitis; and truth be told, my feet didn't actually get better until I started weightlifting... barefoot. I do all of my big lifts barefoot, as well as unilateral and stability training barefoot. When I was actively training clients, I always taught the big lifts barefoot, and made my clients squat/dead/hip thrust barefoot, so I could see how they used their feet and ankles (once they knew what they were doing, they were free to put their shoes back on.) I feel like I learned how to use my feet properly, if that makes sense. If you have weak muscles in your feet, that will cause imbalance all the way up the kinetic chain. Food for thought - take it or leave it. BUT, I hope your foot is better soon!

Thanks, are! This is my second time with it, the first I let it get so bad that I had to take almost a full year off running. I've seen the argument for bare feet in multiple places, too. The physical therapist has me building strength in my ankles right now, turns out my balance is pretty terrible! We'll see if we need to keep working up the chain 😄

Thanks, ridemariel! We went for a 20 mile bike ride Weds (Matt, you would be proud!) And went swimming this morning 😁 it's good to feel the soreness again from working out, but I can't wait to get back into the Run 🏃‍♀️
