KaapseKind's Journal, 01 Jan 21

While feeling sick the last few days I have been watching tons of YouTube videos on health and diet (like I have been doing for the past 2 months). I discovered Dr. Eric Berg, and after watching a lot of his videos, I am 99% sure that I have an issue with my thyroid. I never thought about this, but my grandmother was and all 4 my mother's sisters are on thyroid medication (my mom is the exception). If I look at the symptoms of thyroid red alerts, I have every single one of them. I have definitely believed for a while now that I must be pre-diabetic as I have had all those symptoms for at least 3 years too. That is what sparked my desire to do something about my health - as a lifestyle and not just a temporary fad.

What would be the best way to get both of these things checked out? And is there anything else I should check while I am at it? Up to now I really just did not want to know, especially as we don't have medical insurance and want to get some soon. I know these facts would count against me - so if I don't know, I am not lying when they ask...

Hi ! I would recommend that you do get your medical aid prior to visiting a specialist, as they can be fairly pricey. However, if you’re in immediate need you should visit an endocrinologist. I’m not sure where about you live, but a booking to see one is very difficult, it’s good to check ASAP for an opening 😊👍.

Hey,I know this is an extremely late post and not sure if you will even see it. You do need medical aid I won't lie, especially if you indeed have a thyroid problem. But in the meantime whilst you are waiting please,I am begging you go to the hospital(either get a referral via a clinic or a GP).After assessing you they will do tests and can then determine exactly what condition you have,I know our public health system isn't the best but we do have the appropriate treatment for thyroid conditions, espescially those that are not complicated yet.I'm saying this as HCW working in the public system
