Starting keto today. I'm quite excited. I haven't done keto in years! Also starting week 3 of my workout program 💪
78.3 kg Lost so far: 8.5 kg.    Still to go: 5.5 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Hi jld88! I would love to provide you with some more information. The short explanation is that the keto diet forces your body into a state called ketosis, which means your body uses fat for energy instead of carbs. Under "normal" conditions, your body would be using carbohydrates as an energy source but since you won't be consuming any, or at least very little, it needs to find another source. Hence, fat. Keto diets are very high in fat and very low in carbs. Your protein consumption is moderate. There are many free keto meal plans available on the internet, and you can check whether your body is in a state of ketosis, using a urinalysis test. It's the same test doctors use to check for bladder infections and is available at almost any pharmacy. When you first start with the diet, you will have some side effects that go away in about 4 weeks. It's considered a very healthy diet because it helps to regulate hormone levels, as well as many other health benefits.
