Nikina70's Journal, 08 Apr 18

Actually managed 3 hours of exercise this week and that's excluding a couple of walks to the shops and running around our local tennis courts with my doglet while hubby and my 8-year-old cousin, who stayed with us for a few days, played some tennis. Hope to keep up 3 hours a week and start calorie counting again from tomorrow. Did some meal prep with hubby making his usual veg soup (which I persuaded him to include 300 grams of swiss chard into) with cabbage, carrots, onions, lentils, split peas and his own secret blend of spices. We'll have that for lunch - he usually has his with a toasted cheese sandwich, but I'm hoping to find some more reasonably priced avo tomorrow - otherwise, I'll top it with some beetroot and a few olives. It filled 4 ice-cream containers so 1 went into the fridge and the others the freezer to take out when needed.

I've installed an app on my phone called Daily Dozen where it lists all the elements of a healthy whole food plant-based diet and although I'm nowhere near vegan I think it can't hurt to try to get in healthy portions of the recommended items on the list. I no longer have milk or yoghurt during the week and very little cheese on weekends, but it is one of my great weaknesses. We're also trying to go meat free at least 3 days a week. I prefer to do all 5 weekdays, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I made some vegan butternut oat muffins I'll be having for my evening snack this week so hope they taste good because they don't look nearly as yummy as hubby's Easymix vanilla muffins, but they both have dates and cinnamon in them so he is getting some healthy benefit from that. I've come to the realisation that I can't eat everything he eats anymore lest I end up back at the size I was. He is 2m tall and not a small frame so obviously needs far more calories than I do, but it seems to be taking a while for it to sink in for him that I don't want to be joining him for that occasional parcel of slap chips or having flapjacks every Saturday morning. Once a month would be a nice treat I think - I really can't afford to do these things every weekend! I feel like he just wants a partner in crime sometimes and I don't just want to learn to say no (and be the 'bad guy/no fun') - I want him to learn to stop asking/tempting me! Tough one! This is possibly oversharing, but hopefully some people can relate.

The scale said 63kg on Friday morning so I'm hoping to get back to 62kg by Friday/Saturday morning. Loving my new Triaction High Impact Seamfree Crop Tops. Found a 2-pack at Sportsmans Warehouse in Canal Walk for R299.90 - bargain! So glad the hunt is over and hope they'll last a couple of years like my others did. First time without an underwire for me - so far so good.

I totally relate to the temptation, and am having the same issue with my partner and often feel bad for saying no n give in anyway then feel bad that I can’t say no and even like I don’t hv the willpower .

I have the same problem with that temptation of bad food by my partner...he is also tall so can pack away more than me in my short frame....
