Some pics from my holiday. It's been 6 years since both my sisters and I were together. We're 4 years apart and I am the middle man (as my family liked to call me).

We visited Boulders Beach to see the penguin colony there (Gib_Jig, you'll remember we talked about watching the series ages ago), the Spice Route in Agter Paarl, Chapman's Peak Drive and Hout Bay, Cape Point, the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, Robben Island, the South African National Gallery and Company Gardens and of course the V&A Waterfront. We also had a holiday within the holiday and spent a few days in the beautiful seaside town of Hermanus, which is 1.5 hours drive south east of Cape Town.

Just about every day was packed with activity and in-between we had a few braais and birthday celebrations with close family and I got to meet up with a dear old friend too. This was our first time back since my mom's passing in 2020 so sometimes emotional, but many new treasured memories were made with my two nieces and my brother-in-law too.

It will be a few years before I can go again as we're hoping to buy a house before the end of the year and money will be tight for a while. Hopefully the time will fly though! x

12 April 2024

Been tracking my meals and doing IF since Tuesday. I arrived back in the UK on Monday and went straight back to my evening job that day. For those of you who know and follow me - I spent 18 days in Cape Town, South Africa, where I'm from, reuniting with family and doing lots of touristy things over Easter. It was magnificent!

I hadn't been back for about 2 and a half years so lots had changed, but lots had stayed the same too and it was just so gloriously familiar and beautiful. We were also lucky that the weather was a comfortable 22 to 26 degrees C for most of our trip, which is not always the case this time of the year as they're going into Autumn.

My fitness watch app says I only slept very lightly for 2 hours during the long flight back to Derby, where I now live in the UK, so I'm still feeling zonked and trying to catch up. Work has also been a bit challenging on both fronts so I will be enjoying some serious down-time this weekend.

Step count is up this week since I'm back because we walked far less than I'd hoped while I was with my family. Mostly driving to places or sitting in restaurants enjoying beautiful views - or just watching movies, chatting and playing card games. I think an increase of 1.5kg is ok (the scale said 68.75kg this morning, so I'm just rounding down). On Tuesday when I first stepped on it was a kilogram higher so that's something. I've developed a double belly pooch in that relatively short time so I'll be working on getting the belt notch I'm on back down by 1 before ...let's say mid May.

I hope all my friends on FS have been doing well and I'll be catching up on your posts as I get back into a routine of sorts from next week. Hope you've all had a lovely holiday period and enjoying the start of spring, which finally seems to be blossoming here in the UK - and hopefully US too! I'm so enjoying the sun setting at 8pm now too!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! xxx
