Caro_S_Farrell's Journal, 29 Jan 18

I'm new to this whole dieting thing.

I have been keeping count of all calories I have taken in... it's now 13:00 and I have had my breakfast, lunch a small snack and almost a litre of water.
All together I have only had about 421 Calories. Is this good?
(OH my DRC is 1400)

Any advice would be appreciated.

You cannot weigh 10 kg. Do you want to lose 10 kg?

Leksie I weigh 60... I want to weigh 50

I thought so, you have to change your goal weight to 50, not 10.

Mine says I need to eat 2200 calories and I need to loose 30kg. This seems like allot as on all other platforms it says I must eat 1300 calories

Just be careful that your calorie intake is not too low. A too low calorie intake might send your body into survival mode - meaning instead of losing weight your body is going to try and retain most of what you consume in order to survive

What do you think is the correct amount for someone trying to loose 30kg. Sorry for hijacking your post Caro 🙈

Bernicehodgson, I read somewhere that you need to be in a calorie deficit of at least 1000 in order to lose a lot of weight. I'm not sure how correct that is

Bernicehodgson , did some research and they say 814 calories if you want to lose 1kg a week with no exercise and 1300 calories if you want to lose 0,5kgs.

Hi, you want to lose the weight and remain healthy as well. Its not good to delay your calorie intake for long periods, because you risk putting your body in starvation mode. Rather break it into several meals. say a light breakfast, and a few snacks in-between lunch. Hope this helps.

Jic.S That is not true. Your body will not go into survival or starvation mode as long as you have excess bodyfat to feed it. Caro many of us follow fasting lifestyles where we have days of 500 calories or less. There are lots of benefits with such low calorie days. Perhaps read up about Intermittent Fasting as well.

Thank you. I never get to a point in the day where I am hungry. I eat about every 2 hours and give my body the energy it needs along with drinking up to 2L of water a day.

If you have Netflix watch Fat, sick and Nearly dead, and What the Health. Just cutting out majority of dairy and cutting out meat has helped me so much towards my weight loss goal. Be informed and dieting won’t be the word you will want to use. Adopting lifestyle changes are hard, especially in how we eat but those documentaries have the proof that it’s as simple as being informed and cutting out what is not good for the human body. Worth a watch!

I don't think you need to ever feel hungry or deprived. Have nearly lost all my excess weight by healthy eating choices - minimal empty carbs and sugar - eat as I need to - big bowl of veggies or salad - Healthy, delicious and not lots of calories / love stir fry's/ use avocado oil to cook with
