Hi, just wanted to get some insight. I've been doing 1600 calories, but I've been feeling exhausted and weak. for context, I work out 4 times a week ( circuit training with some resistance training), am 1.7m tall and weigh about 70kgs (estimate as I do not use a scale any longer). just wanted to know of it was the amount of calories or perhaps I must consider other issues. generally I'm not as tired and weak when I'm not counting and controlling calories.

That depends on your goals, are you losing weight?

Sorry, should have mentioned that. Yes, my goal is to lose weight.

I think your calories may be a bit too low if you're feeling weak all the time. Maybe try 1800 calories a day for a while or reduce cardio slightly and track the progress.

Up your calories
4x exercise is a good amount

And also plan your meals around when you’re going to work out. Can’t be doing cardio on an empty stomach

I can relate though I don’t do intense workouts. I Walk an average of 5km a day and Saturday 10km, Sundays I rest. I’ve noticed that by the time I go to bed I’m extremely tired and sometimes even in the morning when I have to wake up

Thank you all for responding and providing some guidance. I was afraid 1600 calories is too much (no rational reason, I just see many people say they eat 1200-1400 kcals here and felt like 1600 can't be low enough), but my body responds as if it is insufficient. In definitely going to try upping it to 1800 and see how it goes. I appreciate the feedback. 🙌🏿

I take slow magnesium tablets as a supplement on days I feel tired.perhaps you are lacking this nutrient

what is your TDEE , google a calculator to measure that then subtract 300 calories from it. it might also be that you are eating too low for the amount of physical activity you are doing

@Nomakala35 you are correct I am consuming less calories than what I am supposed to. That is because of the choice of foods I am eating (healthy). If I were to consume 1700cal it would mean overeating because small portions tend to fill me up quickly even up to 5hrs, sometimes more depending on what I ate. I have drastically cut of carbs (mainly breads, rice, pasta) on my diet since they increase my cravings and I end up over eating

I used the app's calculater, but I'll check on Google, as you've advised, and try supplementing to see how it impacts me. Thank you souch for assisting.

Maybe you need more protein because you're working out?

Are u taking into account calories burnt. If you're working out 4 times a week. And let's say you burn an average of 500 calories per workout you could b netting 1100 calories. You may not be adjusted to such a low calories intake as well as your body will need nutrients to help itself heal your muscles. Hence the fatigue.
I did the exact same thing, a couple of years ago and messed up my metabolism and could not loose weight beyond my ceiling, was always tired and could not workout. A nutritionist then advised to go and pick up 15 kgs and then restart. Which is where I am now.

Consider whether your iron may be low as well.

I don't pay any attention to macros actually. I'm going to experiment with increasing my calories, as according to the Google calculater, I might actually be a bit lower than I should be, and if thereafter I don't see a difference,I will consider deficiencies. Thank you all for your help.

Buy the sugar free rehydrate and have throughout the day. It helps balance some of the electrolyte imbalances that the body goes through when dieting/cutting calories
