Interested to hear from those on low carb/ keto.

If you are very hungry do you allow yourself to go over your calorie limit if you are not at your carb limit. Or basically is carbs or calories more important or equal. To you.

I am finding of my carbs are too low (total carbs 20) I struggle with major hunger. Total carbs closer to 50 (including a good 25g fibre) I don’t struggle with hunger. I was at my calorie limit for today but my stomach is growling. But my carbs were in 19g total only so I had some dried wors

For me as a diabetic I am only allowed 45grams of carbs per day. That brings me to not even 900 calories.

I find that when I drop carbs down low and push protein up, I lose interest in food and eating. And it’s a dangerous place, because sneaky sugar cravings arrive on horseback with the rest of the cavalry. So I sometimes have to consciously decide to eat something. Those moments are turnkey for me - previously, my auto reflex was to reach for sugar and spice and all things nice

If I am hungry still I go over my cals but total carbs are always less than 25g. Protein and fat definitely help me to feel full but not the carbs. I do think some ppl can have more carbs than others but for me I feel awful with more as my body just cannot process them

I'd say if keeping the carbs higher helps you keep your total calories lower then that's the better option by far. Especially if you are getting extra fiber with your carbs

Thanks so much for the perspectives ladies! I think I landed that I must keep my total carbs closer to 40 (half fibre) to keep the hunger at bay. Last night I had droe wors and blueberries But I actually think in general I must not let myself go over my calories because my weight loss is so slow as it is.

I had a look at your information and i see you aim for food freedom. I'd like to recommend you look up the blue zone diet. It's research based on the healthiest people groups in the planet and what they eat. It did wonders for me since I found it. My weight is still pretty much the same. But feel better after eating have more energy and really look prettier to myself. It's not just about food and there is a lot to be learned from these people. It's very different from keto. But please have look at it.

Thank you Lallie, I will! I actually had read a National Geographic article on something similar but I didn’t know there was a book as well 🙂
