So, my problem seems to be carbs, when checking my stats, my carbs are way too much. But how do I make meal in a family setup without carbs?
This is a real struggle for me.

What about substituting traditional carbs like rice with cauliflower rice? If you add spices and extra pieces of veg, you won’t even know it’s not “real” rice 😁 or sweet potato instead of normal potato. Sweet potato mash is also really good!

How do you know it is to much for you

I feel your struggle, you would just have to not eat the rice or pasta you make for the family if you are following a keto or low carb diet. Or portion control with counting calories. It was much easier to stay slim when I was single. With no kids. I just didn’t eat. Now that I have a huge family and I am the one cooking. I just can’t avoid the food... and they don’t want substitutes. They want the real deal. Make enough for the rest of the family to eat. So you don’t end up eating left overs. We always tend to be the ones eating the left overs to avoid wasting food.

I have the same issue when making dinner for myself and hubby. But I substitute my portion with alternative “carbs” zucchini noodles / chick pea past , cauliflower rice or mash. Also if I do happen to eat carbs at a braai or on the run then I consciously would would lean eat for the next 3 days

I try to cook everything I would eat for my family, then i would just add a starch for them, if i dont my hubby is still hungry afterwards. Try to make your protein portions bigger to substitute for your carbs as they are much lower in calories 🤔 Be strong, i know, the struggle is real!!

I just don't put it in my plate. I eat the rest. With 3 kids and a hubby that loves their food it's difficult sometimes but just push through. Sometimes I make for everyone what I can eat.... Then they have to suck it up. 😂🤣 And when It gets too much like mash, I take a tablespoon full for myself.... We are human.... It's not supposed to be a punishment hunny....

your carbs should actually be higher than the rest of your intake. a typical food pyramid will prove that ❤️ carbs are what give you energy and the only reason we see a “difference” in weight appearance with carb-less diets is because carbs help us retain water so we appear less bloated because the water isn’t retained like it would be when eating carbs. be kind to yourself as well!! 🥰

Agree with everyone except michelafedee. The food pyramid has long been debunked as a creation of the grain industry to get us to eat more carbs than necessary. Our body can get energy (better and longer lasting) from natural fats. “Too much carbs” depends on what you’ve set as a limit for yourself. Be honest with yourself, measure how much you’re having, record it and be accountable
