Happy Saturday FS friends

Yup. Wishing for spring. Woke up this AM to a balmy -17C. It has warmed up a bit, now -9C. Have been struggling with the daily need to shovel snow (living in proximity to Lake Erie/Buffalo will do that). After the first shovel my wrists and palms swelled up like no tomorrow. Could feel my heart beat in my palms. It would seem that it's still too soon post op to be stressing them quite so much.

Didn't shovel the next snowfall as the hands were unhappy still. Found a solution by using the splints I wore for a couple of decades to minimise night pain. The curved metal reinforced palm and the stabilised wrist let me get all that needed to be done, done.

Had no choice but to shovel as my furbabies have their annual bloodwork and physicals. Their healthcare is important as 4 of the 5 are seniors with comorbidities. The dogs are pretty happy that they now have a circuit in the backyard to sniff around in as well. When one has little dogs, and the snow is over their heads when you open the back door they balk. I don't blame them at all. Good thing they're pad trained for just such events.

So that's it. On the food front have been craving carbs like mad. Every day is a battle. Must be the season or it might finally be time to increase my medication. Have an appointment with the endocrinologist on Monday.

Be well fellow travellers

Over and out

This cold weather has me craving carbs too and wanting to eat too much. I am sick of snow and bitter cold. Ready for this to calm down.

So hard to keep at it this time of year. Your journaling is so honest and a great narrative on how challenging this journey is for some of us. I also live on Lake Erie in Crystal Beach, so we might be neighbors! Keep striving for a healthy future. You are worth it. My healing motto is 'I am my own Beloved '

Hey Denise. Yes, we are almost neighbours. How cool is that! I'm on the Parkway in Stevensville.
