Okay? So I need to know an alternative to a good old Latté. It has been my crutch, my vice, my friend, my downfall, for years!

I fit it into my calorie count for the day, but it doesn’t keep me full, I could be eating those calories.

What do you guys do?

It is a social thing and a comfort thing for me.

I drink machine coffee at home with little milk, quite a strong coffee bean type. When out I order Americano. You can get away with having more and feeling fuller. Just don't have more than 5! 🤣

I also user sweeteners in place of sugar.

You can make your own milky coffee with less milk and sugar than a commercial café latte. Use a coffee plunger to whisk milk into a creamy froth. It works especially well with cold long-life milk. But milk is actually very satiating and can keep you full for a long time if you have it for breakfast. One must have some pleasure in life. I happily have a milky coffee instead of a solid breakfast.

Use proper milk and sugar though. The fake stuff and skim milk taste vile and are unhealthy too.

Lucky for me I never liked sweet coffee, so always without Sugar, but these are all good suggestions. Thanks. I suppose I just have to get my head around either eating less for my coffee, or dinking an americano with less milk.

I've been using sweeteners for over 20 years with no issues. Wouldn't rule it out if you're counting calories.

@Nanbrey, that's good seems like you have a plan 😊

What all goes into a latté anyway? I’ve never had one of those fancy coffees. My freshly ground coffee with full-cream frothy milk and brown sugar is just 76 calories, and I only have one a day, so it doesn’t make much difference.

Katriena, the ones I drink are just Milk and coffee. But they are pretty big. I like your suggestions of making my own but my problem is, that it is usually my go to when I go out for coffee with friends. I order it without thinking. I think I need to break that habit and rather order a sparkling water or a coke zero, or an Americano like Wes861 suggested. It is really just a mind shift that I need to make. Then I can maybe make myself a really nice Milky coffee like you suggested once a week for a treat, and really enjoy it. I just need to put my big girl pants on and do it now.

I also love cappuccino, and find if I order a small, with low fat milk and no sugar, it still hits the spot! Loads less calories than large one with sugar.

@Wes861, thanks, yes, I think I’ve got this now! I am not against sweeteners at all, they for sure have their place! But lucky for me I like bitter coffee, so with my coffee I’m all good on that front. For me it is about the creaminess of the milk, but I think for that, I am just going to limit myself to one really good Latté a week for a treat, and go with your suggestion of an Americano for the meer up with friends for the rest of the week. It is just a mind shift that I am going to have to make. Thanks
