Annisworkingonit's Journal, 16 Jul 23

Good morning FS friends. Last nights concert was a blast. Made it through the first 2 bands - spitting rain through the first, heavy downpour through the second. During intermission whilst waiting for Zed, the downpour continued which was fine as we were equipped with rain ponchos, but something about the lighting coming ever closer gave us both the creeps. So we waded through the puddles back to the cars and went home. Much as I adore live music, and even though odds were slim that lightning would strike, wasn't worth the risk. I have 5 beating hearts here that count on me. Here's hoping that the next concert in August has better weather.

On the food front, on Friday I thought I'd try a measured amount of regular pasta with seafood and veggies. It's interesting how the body adapts over time, as despite the limited quantity, it felt like I'd swallowed a bowling ball and have felt bloated ever since. Much as I've tried whole wheat pasta, chickpea pasta and anything non regular pasta, none are palatable which is why I tried good old regular high glycemic index pasta. Guess not. Next attempt will be spaghetti squash.

Trial and error. Being my own science experiment is quite the adventure.

Over and out.

Kaslo Sourdough pasta is the only pasta I can stomach.. it's amazing, and doesn't feel like a bowling ball in your gut... it is the only true sourdough pasta and it has a really nice texture, almost like egg noodles... I actually have to resist making it, is still blows my carbs out the window, but at least I don't feel sick for 2 days afterwards.

Sorry the weather did not cooperate for the concert. Hope the next one works out better.

Thanks for the tip Adiposemann. Hey rschafer1970. Turns out we didn't miss a thing. Turns out the venue cancelled the 3rd act due to dangerous weather conditions for the performers and guests. Much as I love Led Zeppelin, and I'm sure the cover band would have thrown in The Rain Song or Fool in the Rain for good measure, I was looking forward to hearing Stairway to Heaven live. (memories of my first slow dance with my first crush)

Going to see Melissa Ethridge, Colin James and Blue Rodeo in Ottawa this weekend - Fingers crossed for good weather and sensible snacking!

Spaghetti squash is fairly light on the tummy. Surprisingly enough, so are baked yams topped with your choice of sauce. I’ve been known to do the same with zucchini (but not very often, as my son isn’t a fan.)

Hey Tuberk - the Kemptville Music Fest? dance for me please! And Grammalaura - not a yam or sweetpotato fan sadly - must be a growing up thing though - sweet+meat = yuk (alien concepts "honey ham" "pineapple on pizza" sticky sweet bbq sauce) Sweet and Sour chinese food on the other hand yum. Weird huh?
