Somehow spring bypassed us again. From frost warnings a couple of weeks ago to 30C today. Heat hot high. The ground is parched and cracking and there is no call for rain.
Saw a neurologist today who zapped my hands and arms to determine whether I had carpal tunnel. Yup. I do. Have had it for the past 25 years, it has just progressed to the point where I have no feeling in my thumb index and middle finger and during gardening season or hand intensive labour, they scream at me at night. At least now that life isn't crazy, and the only obligations I have are to my dogs,cats and me, I can lose the use of a hand for a while (just not during the height of gardening season that is). He will be referring me to a surgeon and get this thing booked. First the left, then the right.
As to food, I am happy to say that I'm finally starting to internalise these changes. Went grocery shopping after the doc appointment. Bypassed baked goods, bypassed prefabricated foods, bypassed the junk aisle. For excitement I picked up some mangos (sale),avocados (sale) and some frozen dragonfuit. Not sure what or how to incorporate these things into my menu, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. The rest of the cart were the usual veggies, fruits, eggs and yogourt. Just a few short months ago this would never have happened. Mini doughnuts, chocolate and cheetos. Good lord, what was I thinking.
I'm going to experiment with cottage cheese ice cream. Found a few pretty simple limited ingredient recipes so will take a crack at that tonight.
Onward we go, 1 lb at a time. 2023/2024 is all about me taking control of my life and so far, so good.
