So the blues have passed. Went to the plant sale in town yesterday and picked up some specimens that I needed. Met a couple of lovely ladies who pulled out their shovels and dug up a few other things that I was interested in. Gosh I adore avid gardeners. Always full of ideas. Planting day today.

Have 20 yards of mulch coming on Wednesday. Last year I hired a kid to help but this year I feel strong enough to shovel and distribute it on my own. If I find it becomes too much to contend with, I'll hire the kid again.

There is something so satisfying about creating a canvas of living things. Much work ahead but looking forward to it.

Meanwhile, I ordered water to fill the cistern (no municipal water here). They were to deliver on Friday but didn't. Needless to say I ran out yesterday afternoon. I am a filthy stinky creature at the moment. Back to nature or what?

An empty canvas takes time to fill and grow. Plant the ones who need to get into the ground asap but some may be able to hold off for a few days. Meaning, you take all the time you need to make your masterpiece come to life ;) We of course would love to see pictures once you are done with your creation :-)

For sure it does Heather. This is my fourth garden, but unlike the first 3 which were urban/suburban, this one is on a country property. Basically the previous owners had a field of grass. It will take years and years for the vision to materialise, as my saplings are small still. Given how the emerald ash borer devasted my last property, I'm diversifying tree species as well. When I sold my other homes, the realtors put no value on the yards, and yet every single buyer absolutely adored the yards more than the house itself. In urban environments, that bit of green solace with its' scents and colours tends to feed the soul.
