Asarver's Journal, 21 Nov 21

woo, did an 8.5 mile run yesterday!!

I have two questions. One is for those who have a uterus/ovaries. It started earlier this year where after I run, particularly long runs by its happened on short ones where I get what feels like period cramps, usually on one side or the other. My ultrasound looked fine, but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. My OBGYN is thinking IBS.

Another question, my arms are super weak. I try to use the blower to blow leaves out front, but I can barely hold it with one arm, and afterwards my arms are always shaky. I don't have any weights and won't go to the gym, but what exercises could I do to build up whatever muscle(s) that will help?

thank you 😊

I admire your running ambitions. just started not that long ago myself. As for the cramps, if they're not linked to your running, you may want to ask your GYN about the possibility of endometriosis. It can do some pretty wicked things that could cause your pain and its not something that tends to show up on an ultrasound either.

Oh Mimi! I was reading your journals about attempting outside running in the cold! The lowest I've ever ran in was 19 F, it's harsh!! I'm glad you're running, it's the best sport (at least for me LOL). I was reading about endometriosis. I had a laparoscopy done in 2013 where they didn't find anything (my period has always been really painful), I was wondering if it is something that could develop later in life. I also read that maybe it's hydration related, but I drink a lot of water. The pain also only seems to happen closer to my period and ovulation, it isn't all the time. 😔

I hated running as a kid, but am really beginning to enjoy it now. I aspire to be able to run at least half the distance you do Lol. I'd love to do a 5K this summer and possibly work my way up to a 10K. IDK, we'll see. I experienced the same thing with my endo at first, just before my time of the month. Got worse for me as I got older. I would definitely consider talking to your GYN. It sounds like a serious possibility if its been quite a while since your last laparoscopy.

Hiya I can share what i use to do to start arm weight exercises. I would start with full plastic water bottles ( one for each arm) I would do various arm lifts( Goggle for routines). I did this for a while until I felt ready to increase weight in bottles
