@Alanp73 you are trying to kill me. So today I went for my health check and was told my triglycerides are high, this was shocking to me considering my lifestyle change, no added sugars and just oats and a few spoons of rice when I do have it. This has just been a bummer for me considering the exercise and food changes I've made, although I was told not to be too concerned but by nature I'm a worrier. Since I was told to watch carbs and cheese intake I have in the past few hours been craving carbs. It's crazy!! I'm thinking what the hell will I be left with to eat? I love rice and oats but this is just playing out in my head maybe I should just breath and go to sleep. I'll change to brown rice and see how it goes

I'll try spekko, I'll probably do what my mom does with her Jacobs coffee and lock the expensive rice in my cupboard 😁

If you like the nutty grainy feel of rice you will enjoy Tastic Brown and Wild Rice. Eat a day after cooking and the resistant starch will be dramatically increased, giving a host of health benefits from reduced carbs & more fibre, healthy gut bacteria, increased insulin sensitivty....etc. If you struggle with minimising carbs the same principle applies to pasta and potatoes. Enjoy!

I use Paddy brown rice from PNP or checkers very nice won't get any other brown rice again about 18 rand per kg and 32 for 2kg and much lower in calories and carbs than the tastic and spekko brown rice.

I eat low carb so I can enjoy rice in my diet. I haven't tried cauliflower rice but I have a suspicion it would throw me over the edge

I would like to add that to my surprise cauliflower rice is nice. Its quick and easy to make, and a head of cauliflower yields a lot of "rice". Pretty similar grainy feeling as couscous. I find that when blending it with herbs, salt and pepper it actually gives food way more flavor than rice or couscous which doesn't taste like anything. I've also tried making cauliflower base pizza, turned out really delicious.

I got 2kg brown rice spekko recently for about R33, it lasts my family for ages. best is to pour boiling water over it in the morning then when you come to cooking it at 5pm its almost cooked itself already. then I make like a 'rice salad" add in diced cooked butternut or tomatoes, cucumber, bits of chicken, even crumbled feta. makes you feel like you eating more rice but you getting all your veg in too
