davidsprincess's Journal, 01 Sep 23

On August 18th, I recommitted to the gym and a laundry list of 'To-Dos" that I am trying to meet daily- including protein at 100 or more, calories 1500-2000, steps at least 6000, and lifting (among other things to better myself). So I have lifted ten times in the last 14 days. I wrongly assumed it was the best I have done all year but January and February were good. In March, work got very busy for me and you can see a complete drop off. My calories are not very controlled and it has ruined any progress for me this month. This is nothing new. I can do fairly well and work hard for a couple weeks and blow every bit of progress in one day. I had a couple higher calorie days that I could have come back from but 8/25 ruined everything. I want to be more upset about it- but I really enjoyed it. I ate and ate and watched TV after a long work week and ate some more. My favorite thing to do when stressed is eat and be sloth-like. It is very comforting which is such a fat thing to say that it makes me sick to type. September 1st has come quickly. Should be motivated to get to the gym being a new month but I woke at 3 instead of 4 and trying to get it together.

I'm with you - the 1st of the month and I'm hoping bit motivates me. When I first read your post i just saw "recommitted to the gym and laundry." Reminded me I need to wash bedding today.

you got this DP! I feel you with the stress and being couch bound... Just wanna share what recently helped me detach from food in times of stress: when stress hits, ive started laying down in bed with my favorite fuzzy blanket and listened to music to calm. Since it wasn't associated with food, I had a chance to analyze my stress and acknowledge what i really needed in the moment.

I feel ya, this summer I also derailed (extreme amounts of stress), but I have to say it also feels good to get back on the horse. Keep at it, I've seen you doing amazing through the years, and you can do it again!

Good luck with the life balance. Overall, you are doing so much better than most who don't consider health at all.

Can you stress-less just a bit? Designate at work more? Meal prep a little? Idk. Just grabbing at ideas. All I’ll say is that you are honest and you never give up trying. Never a failure til you give up and even THEN people can start again. You need a girls weekend. Fly up. 😉🩷🙏🏻

Instead of eating and lounging, come over and help me clean my house. I know you love it and I’m much better at focusing with someone helping me. It’s finally sunny, too!

I'm crazy so this may just be a me thing.. I do the same thing when I'm overwhelmed and stressed. All I want to do is eat and crawl into bed and wish I was an adorable fluffy squirrel. The thing that I have found is if I can convince myself to do it is to put on some headphones with a good playlist. Usually within 10 or 15 minutes of this I have reset enough to continue my laundry, cleaning, work, tiny human wrangling. My problem is I don't consistently do it. I do recommend it though. Other people are more disciplined than me.

🦥 life rules! Joking! I can totally relate! Stress sucks! I think that's great you let yourself have time to enjoy and then got back to the gym! We all need those guiltless times out. As long as you're not stuck there forever I think its ok!

I wasn't even stressed last Friday. My 2000 calories were gone by 1:30 p.m. and then I tacked on thousands more. I don't know why I wrote it as if it was a high stress day. LOL. Probably looking for an excuse besides just hungry and wanted to do it.

Interesting 🤔 so you are saying that this isn't necessarily stress eating?? luckily youve only gained back 5lbs, which isn't terrible damage! This could be your body's way of responding to something internally? There might be something you need: release of any particular emotion/radical Rest/cycle due?/a soothing mechanism. Maybe you just needed the extra calories! No matter, we hear you! Hopefully you will be able to get back on track and you will be able to kick ass like you have been!!

Your doing great. I have the same problem with my calorie intake and sometime just want to eat too much even when I know I shouldn't. You are recommitting to going to the gym and haven't given up. You have inspired me.

Dazey- I had gotten down to 175 so I am up about 55 pounds, not 5. 5 is nothing. Oh how I wish I would have stopped eating at 5... Oh well.

OH! I'm sorry!

DP you will get there. Just take it one day at a time. You have the knowledge and power to change. Remember how much better you feel as you get closer to getting rid of all that extra baggage. Ive fought with food since i was a teenager. I love to eat. LOVE to eat. I did find last year when i was at the highest weight I’ve ever been that bone broth (which i dont like but would drink for protein) would actually make me feel full and not so interested in bad food. Just a thought. Or the things that may help are drinking 16 oz of water before you ingest something that doesnt move you forward in your goals. You can do this. Rooting you on princess🤗

Just here cheering for you. Stupid food... I wish it wasn't so yummy and there were not so many reasons to want it. We just trudge on... Hugs to you even if you don't want them! 😁♥️

Hi DP! - Sorry I missed this post 😞. I know work and life in general creep into plans, and sometimes the plans suck and we just want a break. If this is a chronic problem, you might need new plans. Is sleep an issue? That is a sneaky foundation crack for many. Maybe just focus on getting your protein and consistent training. Have three levels (A, B, C) of training. On a short-of-time day do a sufficient warmup and a few working sets. Or skip the gym and do something at home. Just make sure you get some anaerobic exercise. That’s level “A”. Level “B” would be a normally planned routine. Level C would be an exceptional set-a-new-PR day, maybe walk four or five miles AND weight train. Pick the level of training you have time for or honestly want to do, but make sure it happens. Just try to eat at maintenance or less, not planning reduced calories until your protein and training are habitually stable. I’ve watched you in the past, and good gym habits kept you focused and motivated. You’ll get there, I know.
