weight loss has been quite the journey and I've tried it all. at the ripe age of 39 I have finally figured out what works for me! and it has been infront of me all along. 3 meals a day, making sure to eat 1000 calories a day to get to my goal. once there I will up the calories to maintain. no dad diets, no keto, no fasting.. just good old school counting calories..and making sure those foods are healthy of course !

And that's exactly what I'm planning to do come Monday... Been on holiday for the past 2 weeks and so has my diet.. 😂... And I've been thinking alot about what worked previously and it's exactly as you said... Gonna quit keto and everything else and just stick to 3 meals.. 1000 calories and see how it goes...

Love your approach, how long have you been doing this way of eating?

This post really motivates me. I used to calorie count and was quite successful but then started Banting and every other diet I could think of! I am definitely back to counting calories only and forgetting about carbs and so on. I reckon 1000 a day is a good place to start. I have got 15kg to lose by December! Weighed in at 86 today, my highest ever! Good luck to all of you.

Hi ladies. I had exactly the same problem. I was doing keto and a lot of keto snacking. Then my doctor prescribed the 28 day diet. It is 3 meals a day at about a 1000cal a day and no snacking. And I am dumbfounded that I can eat carbs and dairy and lose weight. I am already over 6kgs down and in my second round of 28 days. Give it a try. It is free and the cheapest eating plan I have ever been on. Dont go hungry. Eat enough vegetables and fruit. https://the28daydiet.co.za/the-free-28-day-diet-and-basic-guidelines/

@leeannjoseph12 Thanks. I did this way of eating about 9 years ago and lost 18 kg over 15kg in 2.5 months.. at that stage I didn't go on maintenance (eating to keep that weight), so I put it all back on.. Between then and now it was all sorts.. I started now end of July and up till now its been just over 8kg. I do only 3 days a week exercise for health and fitness and so I can also enjoy that little vino on the weekend ;-) 40 min cardio is roughly 350 calories which equals to Savanna drys LOL....anyways, its all about consistency in the week and a little chill time on the weekend.. but not too excessive. The first week is trying since your body is getting used to smaller portions.. Oats is a good one to have in the morning since it keeps you full for longer.. But after the 1st week your stomach shrinks and you get fuller quicker and learn when to stop. Give it a go, you won't regret it xx

I'm so tired of failing and about to give up really. I did keto for 2 weeks and lost nothing. So what you saying about calories I want to try I will start tomorrow and see how it goes foe the next two weeks. I really love nik naks and popcorn wanna incorporate what I like so it's not too much of a job and more a lifestyle change.

Wow. Well done to you. Don’t you feel hungry with 1000 calories only? I need 1200 calories and I’m struggling.

I lost 17kg previously on counting calories and keeping a food and exercise journal. and it is the most affordable way to go. I do reduce my carb intake and drink a shake when I have no healthy food on hand. I don't want to feel like a failure when I don't have time to prep a meal, cant afford special foods and I grab a not ideal snack. I work out what I am planning for dinner then use my remaining kilojoules for breakfast, lunch, and 3 small snacks (a small yogurt, apple, or biscuit). I then save calories and exercise a bit more if I know that I have a special occasion on the weekend but don't carry over saved calories to the next week. As soon as I had some extreme stress added to my life I let go and picked up everything but I'm back counting calories and this time it is for life.

Its almost like weight watchers or weigh less etc... But we can see what calorie count works best for us to lose nicely and thats what fat secret is helping is to do... We can eat anything and it works out the calories for us.. Best for long term and maintenance also..

I joined and followed Weight Watchers. They have since withdrawn from the country but I still have all the info for the original plan. It simplified the counting of calories and I got to know the value of a product before I even bought or ate it.

This app is a huge help! Also if you wan to have what you like nicnaks etc, you can scan the barcode and it gives you exactly how many calories for the bag...weigh a small amount and add it to the app and hey presto your calories for that weight! You can even do 1200 calories for the day, you should lose roughly 0.7kg a week. After the first 4 days to a week your stomach will get used to the small intake. Calorie counting is definitely most affordable and when you have no time a shake works best.

@ Capetownhealthy I had a look at it and was so confused about portion sizes🤦 Could you tell me what you eat and how much of it? Thanks

@andypandy1084 are you a male? I am female and we eat out of a bowl size 450ml. You just fill your bowl every meal. Meat size is palm size, men two palm sizes. Check out the Facebook page a lot of questions and answers on there.

I had a look at their website. So things like rice, pasta, veg, I just fill the bowl then top with the protein portion? Oh, I'm also female 😉

@Andypandy1084 no rice. Protein and veg together. Carb and veg together. It is a pharmacist scientific way of losing weight. Read up a bit more and join the Facebook page. A lot of information to make sure you do it right.
