From what i have researched, try to keep your calories around 1500 per day, but you will also need to keep your carbs under 50g a day. It has worked for me.

Thanks, have been trying to keep to 1500cals a day but it’s been tough to say the least. Will keep an eye on the carbs, thanks for that advice

With bread/pasta/rice etc the calories really add up. Rather do an Avo to keep you feeling fuller for longer. I find that if I have bread, I feel hungrier and tend to snack more.

I am 1.63m, and had +-30kg to lose. I train 4-5 times a week, eat between 1300-1700cal pd. intermittent fasting +-16 hours (some days 18) - I do a proper fast at least 4 or 5 days a week. I limit my simple carb intake - bread, pasta and pastries do me no good so I just don't have them very often. doing this. I steadily lose between 700g - 1.4kg per month. it's slow for some. but for me it's perfect. has given me time to change some really unhealthy habits. I don't have lose skin (which I was really concerned about because all my weight sits around my tummy) and I don't ever feel like I'm missing out on the good life because I have a lot of flexibility in my diet. this girl needs her gin and chocolate!!!

also... I found it hurt me to look at my goal as one goal. I break up my goal into much smaller goals. so I always feel like I'm winning 😂 celebrate 2kgs, celebrate 5kgs and in no time you'll be bouncing around the room because you hit the 10kg goal

Hay there. I am new to the group, joined yesterday. I too have loads of weight to loose, 44kgs.....I am doing 1400 cal a day. I don't have a good scale yet will get one tomorrow but I try to stick to easy things. I work out 6 days a week. One day HIIT full body work out, next cardio (treadmil), then strength training. I am not use to eating breakfast and lunch. So a huge adaption for me. The secret to all success be it weight or even getting fit is to just continue, persevere don't give up, consistancy. Some days things may be hard others not too hard. I am currently searching my food items and planning my meals accordingly. I hate cooking and have a family so really hard for me. But I am feeling more motivated looking at meals others are sharing. Gives some ideas and helps me to well, cook healthy meals not just for me but my family. I breaky 1400 up like follows: breakfast = 280 cal, lunch = 420 caps, dinner = 420 caps and other = 280 cals the other is for snax. I increase and add more things to the meal for my husband and son. Hope this helps a bit.

I really like hearing everyone’s contribution. I have opted not to exercise until I’ve lost quite a bit. My mind is just not there at all. I only eat 1300 calls a day, no bad carbs ie only veg for carbs and no red meat and sugar. I have 25kg ideally to lose to get to a weight I think I can realistically manage. I started in April and have lost 10kg. I also started intermittent fasting. It’s quite hard. I do allow myself sugar free chocolate. I can’t allow any lapse as I would just lose it. I’m 52 and so worried that it will be very hard to lose the weight because of my age. I’m so sick of looking revolting and feeling uncomfortable in clothes and ‘less than ‘ around people. I feel bad for my poor unhealthy body so planning on getting this right. I looked at all those diets, schemes, plans etc and decided just to do it old fashioned - calorie and portion control. (And no carbs). Thanks for this forum

I’ve found at my age that t works best if I keep my calories low. I can pretend all I like about snacks and healthy carbs but the end of the story its what and how much we put in our mouths. I’ve stopped carbs like bread and pasta, sugar. I saw the difference every week and it’s encouraged me. I cannot allow myself lots of little slips and to say oh well, I’ll just do better tomorrow as that becomes an easy trap to fall into. Esp with a food disorder. We like say what we like to avoid reality. Which is how most of us with major amounts of weight ended up in the place we are now. What we eat and how much. It has to be better and less. And yes, it can be boring.
