Something that's really helping me is getting a weekly delivery from Urban Direct. I get four low G.I meals for two. You get all the ingredients and the recipes. It's very adventurous and helps me out of my cooking rut. It's R590 a week, and because it's only my husband and me at home, we're finding we waste a lot less food. And the portions are not the giant amounts of food I tend to cook, after years of feeding a big family.

Recipe please. I have aubergines growing in my garden and not sure what to do with them.

Halve the aubergines and score them almost down to the skin. Paint with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake them in the oven until really soft. While that's going, fry you chosen mince, seasoned to taste. When the aubergines are soft, scoop out the flesh and mix with mince. Pile the mixture back on to the baked skins, and cover with heated cheddar. Put back in the oven until bubbling and going brown. Easy! The warm zucchini salad - brown the zucchini in a grill pan, add the baby tomatoes to soften them. Little bit of salt. Add a little lime juice and chopped mint.
