And yes....my calorie budget allowed a small slice of strawberry apple pie :-)

Wowza!😍
Looks absolutely perfect including crust. Double crust pies are my biggest baking challenge.

Pie crust is one of those things that I take help from the store with. I use Marie Calendar's deep dish from the frozen foods section. Two pre made crusts in a pkg. I use them for pie and quiche. I really can’t make them any better than that. I always have a pkg. in my freezer ready to whip up at a moments notice.

As a former professional chef I'm very keen on what is worthwhile to make from scratch and what isn't. Pie crust definitely falls in the "store bought is fine" category for me! My sister insists on making her own pie crust every year on Thanksgiving and every year I tell her how great it is and think "tastes like Marie Calendar's". :) Enjoy!!

I must confess, I use Pillsbury refrigerated pie crusts. The combination of strawberries & apples was created when I wanted to bake an apple pie & realized I didn't have enough apples at home. I substituted strawberries for part of the filling. Now Hubby requests the combination. I have also used blueberries & apples.I also used a combination of stevia & sugar. We like it & I've served it at family dinners & always get compliments.

My slice is around 200 calories. I broke down all the ingredients for the whole pie to calculate my slice. The calories fit in my daily total. 😀

I sometimes use store bought too but I love a challenge & actually enjoy baking waaayyyy more than cooking.
This is my favorite crust recipe thanks to Martha.
