When you have a medical license it is just a little different and gets into some gray areas. As long as you never do anything that the average Joe wouldn’t do you are probably ok. But as soon as someone finds out you are a nurse with an active license they will sue just for grins to see what they can get from your insurance company because many people know the ins. Co. Will settle. I have never been sued, thankfully and I have gotten away with some pretty sketchy things that were not in my scope of practice in non hospital settings. A lot of medical people just will not stop rather than deal with these issues.

And Chris, to tell the truth, had it been a filthy homeless person with alcohol on there breath and track marks, I would not have given mouth to mouth either. This was a 85+ man all dressed in his dapper looking clothes, no alcohol on his breath —- that does not mean that he wasn’t carrying an unseen disease, but he had only one slim chance of surviving and that was us.
