Good morning FS friends.

Went to see the Johnny Cash experience yesterday with my friend. Can't say I've ever really listened to any country music as growing up. Mom's musical palette was vast but did not include country. I get it. She preferred more musically complex genres and I noticed that for the most part, the music of the man in black uses mostly 1,4,5 chords. That being said, the story telling contained within his music is absolutely fabulous. The show itself was very well done with Johnny on big screen doing some of his songs, his son speaking of his mom and dad's life and then the tribute band/singers woven amongst it. I like going to an event and coming out of it with more knowledge than prior.

Another show coming up this week that my friend got tickets to is Terry Fator. Must say that 2024 has been chock full of outings so far and am quite enjoying it. That these outings don't include food just goes to show that there is more to do out there than just dining out. Who knew?

Happy about the loss this week but frankly I was expecting another stall or slight gain. Haven't consumed nearly the amount of roughage that I normally do (have had a toothache that is being attended to today). Less fibre means bunged up (which I am). Imagine my shock when the number was lower on the scale despite this. A smidge closer to goal. Yay!

Anyhoo. Pitter patter must get at her. (more painting to do)

Good morning FS Friends

So the first appointment with the oncologist is done. So far no news as there are a bunch of tests ahead. I've calmed down a fair bit as there is nothing for me to do in this situation other than perhaps act as chauffeur for the lung biopsy day.

John has gone home for a few days so I've restarted painting which is coming along nicely. The light blue on the radiator pipes and walls makes me happy. In some lighs it is almost white, other lights, light blue. Must admit though, as more paint is applied, the light blue is becoming more dominant. Sure beats the baby poop yellow that was here previously.

On the food front, cravings have subsided (which really reminds me that stress is definately a trigger for me). At least now when I crave things, I resort to healthier options (Babybel cheese in limited quantites comes to mind)

Winter has returned. Not sure how well my bulbs will survive through this as the daffodils are 8" up and were already budding. Same goes with my hydrangeas and roses. Sadly, the robin has returned, had built her nest in the clematis as she always does but with this sudden onset of sub zero temps again, not sure her eggs will survive.

Next week is a return to more temperate weather, so looking forward to it.

Bah

Not a fan of an increase on the scale. Insignificant amount but up nonetheless. Other than an increase in stress/cortisol I've been vigilant about food intake and intentional movement. Will simply have to trust the process, carry on doing what I've been doing and eventually the last 30lbs will go.

Need to remind myself to celebrate the wins. A year ago on March 1 I started this journey at 264lbs. Health metrics, mobility, quality of life are all infinitely better now and am very much looking forward to working in the yard in the months to come. Aside from the physical movement it provides, the work feeds my soul, provides a calm space and in a way is my form of meditation.

John's first oncology appointment is today. There remains the underlying worry about the journey ahead for him/us and I need to find a way to let the fretting go. Back to "give me the grace to accept the things I cannot change".

Happy Friday FS Friends

Went to the Beatles tribute concert again on Wed. Front row seat was way better than the back row behind a man with a big head. Sang and seat danced my way through it again. Adored the George Harrison imitator as he carried the persona well (that and I always was fondest of George anyways) At the end of the show he threw his pick at my feet (I was standing at that point) so the older lady beside me who was seated snagged it. Ah well. It was so good to get away mentally, if even for a short while from John's health issues.

Today, he went home for a few days which gives me the opportunity to start painting the room again. With his breathing issues, sending paint VOC into the air wouldn't be a good thing. He'll be back Monday afternoon as he has his first oncologist appointment to start further testing/scoping and hopefully treatment.

One thing I have learned about eating and stress. If I'm idle and stressed I'll eat inappropriate things / amounts. So I've been keeping busy - deep cleaning the house room by room. I came so close to almost having an oops today as I went out to stock up on dog food and thought to pop into the local convenience store to pick up a couple of lottery tickets. Normally this store has the best donuts so I told myself that if they had toasted coconut, I'd get one. The universe was smiling at me though as they were sold out. Whew.

Little Miss Olive's surgery went well. She lost 23 teeth, now has 12 left and is recovering nicely. My pocketbook is substantially lighter as a result (with preop bloodwork and the surgery ~$4000 CAD in total). Good thing my furbabies are family and mean the world. Here's a picture of her.
