Good morning FS friends,

Today is the day. Goal 10 met. 100lbs lost. On the cusp of a normal BMI.

Boggles my mind actually. What is kind of fun about the NSV part of this journey is that my closets are becoming increasingly barren. Popped into a thrift shop the other day looking for tops. Depending on make/model M/L now fit comfortably. Went to a liquidation place and bought a couple pair of jeans. Since I couldn't try them on, bought a 14 and a 12 thinking the 14 might fit and the 12 would be aspirational. 14s are loose, 12s are comfortable (don't have to lie down to get the zipper done up level comfortable).

I know to many of you these sizes sound huge but I've come from 4X/5X jeggings and tops. Last time I fit into a 12 anything I was in my mid teens. Weirdly though I weigh more now than then.

Did i ever think this would be possible? Nah. Yet here we are.

Happy dance

Happy Saturday FS friends

Cannot believe how time has flown. We saw the pulmonary surgeon who scoped and biopsied John's lungs the other week. Confirmed that it is cancer but the lesion cannot be removed as it is too close to the aorta. Chemo and radiation are expected to treat it as the type he has usually responds well to this protocol. Once gone (fingers and toes crossed), he will be on immunotherapy for life. No metastasis elsewhere either, so good news. Still scary though as there is a challenging road ahead, hopefully a path we start down soon.

So my goddaughter came and has now returned home. Fabulous visit although admittedly I'm pooped. Toured some Toronto sights day 1, the CN tower, Ripleys aquarium and the Bata Shoe Museum. Day 2 and 3 did all things more natural in Niagara Falls - two sets of tunnels taking up behind the falls and beside the falls, took the boat to the bottom of the falls the white water walk, the original power generating station and the antique whirlpool aerocar. Also went to the butterfly conservatory and for lunch at a winery in Niagara on the Lake. Each evening we set up a fire in the firepit by the river, had some adult beverages (not me though as I didn't want to go too far off plan). Day 4 was a quiet morning spent at home, then the drive to the airport. No idea where my weight will land however except for 1 ice cream cone, I tried not to deviate too much. When she would have uniquely Canadian things like poutine and beavertails, she'd share a bite with me. Did I want my own serving? Of course. Having come so far though, I don't want to cave in at this stage. Hopefully will be a smidge closer to that 100lb lost milestone. I guess we'll see on Monday AM.

And so it goes

Good afternoon FS friends

Been busy this past week. Spring has sprung. Much as I favour pollinators, the yard was getting out of hand with weeds so needed to start tackling that. Not only are the weeds thriving, so are the perennials. My bleeding hearts are already blooming (a month early)

Sent John home so I could finish painting the river room. So close to done. It has been a monumental task and am glad that the vision of it I had is coming to fruition.

Saw another concert last week with my friend - a male a cappella group named Straight No Chaser. Quite good. Another one to see on Tuesday next- Fifth Dimension.

Getting excited for what's ahead. My goddaughter whom I've never met is coming for a visit from Estonia for 4 days starting the 12th. Sounds strange, but in our culture there is generally a primary godparent that lives locally and another that lives remote. Might have something to do with times when most families were separated by the iron curtain to retain the familial connection. In our family, just mom, dad and I lived in freedom. All other relatives were behind the curtain. Have much to show her both in the region, in Toronto and maybe even a hop over to Buffalo. Odds are it will be a period of libation and excess calories given our time out and about. So be it. I've worked this program now for 14 months. A few days of non optimal consumption will be manageable.

Good morning FS friends,

Getting excited! Another major milestone is in sight. Another few weeks and 1.2 more lbs and that 100lbs lost might be on the books. Fingers and toes crossed. Then again, everytime a milestone is in sight my body doesn't always want to comply, or I change my diet a smidge and cause a slowdown. Note to self...much as I love oatmeal, even if consumed within my caloric allowance, something happens and weight loss stalls. So no oatmeal for me. Maybe that will be a maintenance food.

This weight loss journey is such a science experiment...what works, what doesn't. We are so unique as to how we metabolise food. Carbs, particularly grain based carbs just don't work for me. Such a shame as I love bread/baked goods and of course oatmeal. Always have, likely always will. Know now though that if down the road I have any it must be very limited. Is my health worth the give up? I believe so.

Over and out.
