apparently also eat that protein meal before your 1st cup coffee since coffee first rises cortisol levels and spike glucose

The coffee does nothing to insulin and cortisol. It's the milk and sugar that have an impact on blood sugar. Black coffee first thing in the morning is great for brain and gut health.

Actually Petrode is correct- black coffee has an effect that has surprised people when evaluated scientifically if you mix a bad night sleep with black coffee.

The journal is mentioned in this article if you want to look it up. I was surprised too because I’m a big black coffee fan. But I think the poor sleep is key.

I agree. I don’t really like eggs but an egg in the morning keeps me going all day. My favourite brekky - cereal and milk - makes me gain weight like mad, plus I constantly want more. So I just boil an egg and gobble it in two bites like it’s a prescribed vitamin or something.

It can affect blood sugar in diabetics, and I imagine it can increase cortisol when the body is already stressed (ie. after a bad night's sleep), but under normal circumstances, coffee is not the problem. The study even said that coffee consumption had an nonsignificant effect on insulin resistance/sensitivity. Context is key. (Don't scare people off coffee 😋 It's excellent protection against dementia and other degenerative brain diseases)
