Rented the pool for my daughter's birthday and looking forward to it. I love to swim too much to care what I look like in a suit and any normal person is hopefully trying to enjoy him/herself and not looking at me. They can stare at Diablo instead. 🙂 Made it to the gym and did seated shoulder presses. Seemed like it hit differently so I'm interested in whether I'll be sore tomorrow. I usually use the Smith machine which allows me to go heavier. I can never get my shoulders sore. I think they are shapely (at least when I'm thinner) which seems to support articles I've read stating that muscle growth isn't dependent upon muscle soreness. On that note, happy Saturday.

I used to hate swimming, but with all the injuries I'm finding I enjoy it. Hope you enjoy yourself!

Swimming is my jam. No being hot & sweaty. It's only exercise I never tire of AND it works out everything. Laying on a float with fruity cocktails all day is pretty sweet too.❣️ Enjoy rest of the weekend

Ever try Arnold presses? I like them more than traditional shoulder presses

Yes- I've done Arnold presses but usually I use the Smith machine, so not often. Today I didn't.

Do them all DP. Smith, dumbbell and machine OHP. Even if you can only do 2 sets of each, the variations in exercises is better for you.

I did enjoy the machine, too yesterday. I also did chest assisted lateral raises which I hadn't done in a bit. Good stuff.

On the muscle growth and muscle soreness front, I stumbled on trainer Sal Di Stefano's YouTube interviews about that. He really has some different and enlightening views on things. Highly recommend if you're interested.

On that note Mike, I mix in lots of stuff for shoulders: incline bench, standing overhead press, clean and press, reverse fly delt raises, Arnold press, upright row, chest dips, front raises, lying incline lateral raises, and cable raises. I mix all of those in during the week as well as barbell shrugs. (I know, shrugs are different muscle group). But, with barbell shrugs I can feel a little delt activation too.
