Kenna Morton's Journal, 22 May 22

Just a Sunday morning rambling:

I have been reading up a bit on monkey pox . Of course related to small pox but not as deadly but can still has serious side effects. those of us who are older have probably all been vaccinated for small pox. They quit doing that about 30 years ago. My preliminary findings are that we still carry at least some degree of immunity. Those people here who have not been vaccinated and especially those with serious underlying medical conditions , you might consider having a discussion with your doctor about this. Monkey pox is here, pretty much east coast at this time. Anti Vaxer’s— just scroll on. I encourage everyone to keep track of this disease and see how new findings might effect you.

I will never vaccinate. Not worried about Covid or pox. Eat healthy, exercise daily, lots of water, and pray always😀👍

Lol, as if the only people who fall sick are those who don't eat healthy, don't exercise and don't pray. I wish all the anti-vaxxers would go to an island somewhere where they can be free to believe the fairytales they enjoy and spread disease amongst themselves, instead of prolonging epidemics in the rest of the population.

Prayers don't do anything against viruses. I guess this is the level of stupidity we are contending with.

I have seen and cared for patients with both small pox and bubonic plague. I marvel and am grateful every day for the advancements in science and medicine. We had conquered TB in the early/mid seventies and had reached a point where stopping vaccinations was being considered, but then Vietnam war and Vietnamese refugees became an issue and we have never been able to get back to that point again. TB is still a huge issue in this country and will become even more so with the current immigration problems we are dealing with. Next time any of you go for your annual physicals, talk with your doc about reviewing your overall vaccination status.

Thanks Kenna . I've asked my doctor about getting vaccinated for shingles and tetanus. I got vaccinated last visit for pneumonia. I don't know about TB - I assume I was vaccinated as a kid (born in the 50's) if it was available.
