I adore the Cheesecake factory. And yes, I too was shocked this year when I finally looked up how many calories were in those cheesecake slices, pastas and other dishes I'd had.

Yeah, Cheesefactory is good but full of calories. Going to get some fattening food is good every so often. I haven't been there forever.

look at PF Changs. Holy smoke. Eye-opening and we used to go there all the time.

You were really good saving half. It is an eye opener when you check the calories. There have been many tines I eat off of the appetizer or side dishes menu when eating out, but those can add up too! Glad you enjoyed your meal. 😊😋

I had a hard time the last time I was there on vacation in Hawaii. Decided to go for it and have the cheeseburger. It was amazing! We also had the Reese’s cheesecake which wasn’t so amazing, but still good. The calorie counts are ridiculous as they are at most restaurants.

Sugar, butter, and cheese...the secret to tasty food people will pay big bucks to eat. Thus the two day's worth of calories in every meal.

There are some low-cal choices on the menu, though they aren't near as tempting. I do like that the calories are listed on the menu.

Yep people read the calories on the menu while lifting fork to mouth

Love2educate, it's the portion sizes that kill us in sit-down restaurants.

It's the sodium content for me that is the biggest turn off. The calories I can manage by choosing lower calorie options or taking home half the plate.

I agree that the calorie count is ridiculous, also the salt content. I don’t eat out very often though. When I eat out I can taste that salt. I do not use salt at home. Therefore, everything on the restaurant plate always taste to salty. I usually have to eat half or less and bring home the rest.

I don’t often eat out just because I am just as good a cook as most restaurants. I also don’t want to pay high prices to eat a meal that is so huge that you have to take it home. I do not eat leftover restaurant food.. I have only been to one restaurant that you could order MOM sized servings or DAD size servings. Such a good idea.

Well yes Fud. Most don’t know what the calorie count looks like in anything they eat. 3 cups of spaghetti? 4 slices of pizza? 3 donuts? None of it’s bad, people just don’t have a clue.

Exactly, Love2educate, people just have no clue what's in food or even what 3 cups looks like. It's not just restaurant food. I know plenty of people who rarely eat out and are overweight, partly because they don't know what's in their food, don't want to be limited to obviously low-calorie foods, but don't particularly care to find out the energy value of what they are eating.

So looks like there has been some conversation while I was off enjoying time with my family this weekend. The Cheesecake Factory would seldom be a choice to eat....mostly because it's not close to where we live. We had worked our way down...stopping at several shopping areas along the way. We finished shopping at 8 PM when the mall closed. CF was right there & everyone agreed we should eat there. Since I don't get the opportunity to eat there often, I chose a dish I'd enjoy. I eat yummy salads at home, often so wanted something different.I decided up front I would only eat half.

I will say, the portions of this meal weren't huge & I wouldn't have known how many calories it was without the menu. We were all pretty hungry by the time we were seated, so...yes, I had some of the yummy bread...and butter. After we ate no one was hungry for dessert...so no cheesecake was consumed 😁 I probably would have had a bite or two if anyone else had ordered any but I couldn't have eaten a slice. I've had my weekend of being "naughty" 😉 so the next month I will be more conservative.
