Tyhopho's Journal, 20 Oct 20

I‘be been so discouraged the past 2 days, Friday morning I weighed 101.7kg. I’ve been very disciplined with my eating and exercise for the past 2 weeks. Saturday I had 2 slices of pizzas for lunch and there after I was back on the clean eating wagon. Sunday morning I did the CTM 10km ate clean whole day even declined Woolies tin roof ice-cream. Yet Monday when I weighed I was to 104.2kg exactly where I was 2 weeks back 😭😓. After all my effort and a 10km run. I do suffer from chronic constipation, I drink 2,5lts water daily. I tried Senna tea but I had the cramps. Can somebody pls help with advice/analysis? I really need a shoulder to cry on coz am really wanna stuff my face with food now

Hey darling, please check your measurements they are a good indicator of progress, weight fluctuations can be due to so many factors and very discouraging. Keep up with your clean eating babes.

It could be muscle gain. Try focusing more on fat loss than weight loss. How do you feel?

@Yolanda I feel good, people that I haven’t seen since the lockdown complimented me on Sunday at the race. Yet the scale says otherwise

@FocussedNinja I did a body analyses 2 weeks back at the gym and scheduled another one for this coming Thursday. So I will know my progress then. Thanx dear

Sometimes it takes a little longer for the weight to drop. I go through that many times. I’ll work for 2 weeks and not drop. Then suddenly on the 3rd or 4th week I drop rapidly. The idea is to keep going. Could be water weight or retention, could be muscle gain, could be digestion (takes 36 hours)... just push through and be consistent. Instant gratification isn’t a friend of weight loss. But rather than loss, the journey is meant to teach you what you need to do to maintain your goal weight. If you focus too much on loss then you’ll miss the lesson. The weight will then boomerang. Learn the lesson and be consistent with eating right potions, exercise and healthy options.

This is also why people weight weekly or even monthly. I on the other hand weight daily to remind myself that I need to be consistent with healthy habits. However than demoralizes a lot of people so be cautious when doing it. Be kind to yourself too. Really well done on resisting Tin roof ice cream when it wasn’t the right time to eat it. Freaken well done!!!!

Thank you @edikotope your last comment put a smile on my face😀 . I will continue for sure coz I love the workouts and the energy it gives me. My sleep has also improved the past two weeks so I guess the positives outweigh the negatives.

Exactly. That's the lesson to be learnt from the journey. Enjoy the better sleep, workout routines, good energy, improved mental strength & will, discipline etc... those are the wins... the scale will follow. Also I think the more positive you are the faster you lose... but that's just a theory I have.

When you feeling down, or not moving fast enough. Remember to check-in on the hardwork you did so far and be kind to yourself. You are doing awesome!!!
