CocaLola's Journal, 18 Jan 20

Today is going to be a new test for me. My cake decorating school's first workshop for the year. I have actually been dreading it.

Butter cream icing is the worst to deal with. I teach them to decorate cupcakes with butter cream icing that is normally marshmallow flavoured. At the end of the workshop I do demo cupcakes and they have to copy the techniques. NORMALLY I would eat one of those cupcakes and it is really not that I cannot eat that cupcake, I DON'T WANT TO EAT THAT CUPCAKE!

Now shit in my life becomes very real. I cannot avoid cake even if I wanted to. (lol) To make matters worse, I have TWO Butter cream workshops today, so that means 8 cupcakes of which I would normally eat 2 (at least).

Please dont tell me to have a treat now and again, I would rather cheat with having tons of fruit (which I love) than with a small tiny cupcake.

This is just a habit I have to break... TODAY!!!

Another issue with a full day of school, I dont really eat during the day, because I dont have time. These are the times that the take-away toasted is popular. Not eating bread anymore, so I will have to prepare my food from now on and make sure I have something to eat.

Big reason I dont really eat bread as a rule; 1 slice of bread will give me heartburn for days!!!!

So today is going to be challenging. Lets Kick Fat Ass >>>> lol

Good luck 🍀😄 not easy hey. Maybe ask one of the participants, if they would like to taste? No doubt all hands will be up. I’m sure you will come up with a bright idea.

All the students get 6 cupcakes. For each class I will have 4 demos. Normally I would give my neighbors (a pub & grill next door to me) 2; 1 for myself and 1 for the BF. So today I am giving ALL OF THEM to the neighbors!!! I am really blessed to have a good support group regarding that. Told BF this morning to make sure that he takes ALL of the cupcakes next door and hold me accountable if there is one missing. He also loves to tell me.... have a cheat now and again, its ok. UH - UH! I dont work that way. I REALLY dont want to eat sugar bombs (like you call it) anymore. Once in a while is great, but not every week. At this point in time, that is just not an option for me. xxxx

At this point in time this is more than just losing the weight. I want to be off these horrible statins. The side-effects are horrible. In order to be off them I have to get my diet under control and have a regular exercise regime in place. (Forgot to mention: I am a heavy smoker too) ONE STEP AT A TIME!!!!

You do what is right for you. I also get people telling me it’s not sustainable to cut out sweets, cake, chocolate, junk... but to be honest I will survive lol I don’t need cake. I need real food with nutrients. If I don’t have cake for 6 months I’m not going to die. I will be healing my body from all the damage I did by eating cake and refined carbs. We all have our own ideas what is good for our bodies and that should be ok. If someone wants to eat Macdonalds everyday. No problem. That’s their body. It’s just not for me. I got fat from a lot of starchy foods I cooked myself. Potatoes, a lot butter beans and refined carbs like bread, white rice and pasta. During my last 4 pregnancies in the last 7 years I just couldn’t stand the smell of veg. So I ate a lot of heavy carbs. Not takeaways and sweets. Even though I do love sweets. I know it just raises my insulin way too high and I just store everything I eat. I’m prone to insulin resistance because of PCOS. I didn’t want to take glucophage anymore so I decided no more sugar. Just like you, I don’t want to be on medication. It does more damage than good. So stick to your plan. And to hell with everyone that says you should eat sugar. I will always encourage healthy eating. Not sugar causing diabetes food. If you want to eat cake on a special occasion. Why not, as long as it’s your choice.

Isn’t that the trick. Breaking the old worn habits that have helped get us to where we are - over a long time I might add. Not that easy. Slowly slowly catch the monkey one bad habit at a time replaced hopefully with a good one. I used to end the day off with something sweet like salted fudge or a chocolate (normally the whole bar). So far so good-stopped that one. My next goal is reduce portion size over dinner. Good luck resisting the cup cakes!!

VICTORY!!! I BEAT THE CUPCAKES!!!! @Stiggy.... I have a 100 step journey journal I made. I have to change 100 things this year. And they arent all big things, some might be insignificant to others. @PASCO... They will definitely be one of the more serious steps, YES!
