Yikes dp!! Glad you didn’t burn the place down. My friend did, left a pot of oil on the burner, forgot and went to church...needless to say, church was called during service and their house burned to the ground. So sad. You didn’t get any burns?? You are blessed!! Oil is dangerous. I don’t even own a deep frier. Or instapot. Don’t like the pressure thing or frying!! 🥴

Princess I’m afraid of it too even though I’ve canned with my aunt on an old pressure cooker lol. Hubby cooks a roast on like an hour or so. I’d rather put it in the crockpot and slow cook all day for the smells and tenderness. (Instant pot can be tender but not always) I don’t mind washing the extra pan that I sear/brown the meat with first. Everyone I know loves those pots though. I’m the odd one out haha

Finally - I'm not alone in my fear of pressure cookers. There was always something about that little 'cap' on the top of the lid wobbling that scared me too. Your chili looks perfect.

Yummy! That looks amazing. Of course I love chili of many varieties.

Pressure cookers are what Satan cooks with in Hell. My aunt had one when I was a kid, that thing would violently shake and jump on the stove top, even when I was nine I'm thinking, "that shit ain't safe".

Oh guys, I too was terrified of my mom's pressure cooker! I was always warned to stay away when it was pressuring up because sometimes the gasket would fail and the steam would come pouring out the edge of the pot. "Nope, nope!!! "when my mom offered to get me one as a wedding gift! Fast forward to to today, my instapot is a huge time saver for me. I don't fear it, and it does a lot of work for me when I am feeding a crowd! And my hubby can even use it, which is saying a lot since he isn't exactly an accomplished cook!

See, beautiful. Then some guy who's never had a cavity in his life makes it look messy. 🤓

Many people are intimidated by electric pressure cookers, but they are very safe. I have an 8 quart Instant Pot Ultra, and I cook everything from boiled eggs (actually steamed) to roasts to babyback ribs to stews and soups and yes, chili. I love it, because once you brown your meat and sauté your vegetables, you just set the cook time and walk away. No worrying about watching the time or anything burning. Delicious, fall-off-the-bone tender meat! When it finishes cooking, it automatically switches to warm, and will keep your food safely hot for hours. 💛💚💜

I'm still apprehensive about having a time bomb on the stove or counter top. 😹

Wow- I'm completely torn here. 🤣😂 And truth be told, the chili looked better than it tasted. I love reading all the comments. They really amuse me- so thanks for that. No, wifey- no burns- but I definitely panicked. I should have just put the cover back on and turned off the flame. So stupid. Live and learn!

that chili looks so amazing!! I'm sorry it didn't taste as good as it looked! lol

Luckily these days they have a quick release for the pressure or a "natural release" which takes more time but there's no steam blowing up and it's very quiet. The little plunger pops down and you know it's done.. I wasn't a fan until I started messing around with it 😃

Phew! I’d likely do the same at 19. I’ve come a long way with my cooking. 🙃

Honesty is advertising would doom those things, "Act now and get your Stove Top Time Bomb for half off! But wait, there's more! Just pay additional shipping and we will you send you the Electric Counter Top Time Bomb model at no additional charge!"
