I'm continuing carnivore another week. Now, it's more like carnivore for 3 days and low carb (30g a day) for 1-2 days. My blood sugar is staying in the 112-140 range. Carnivore seems to be the way for me to lose weight and keep my diabetes under control with Trulicity. It's another cool weather week, so I'll be doing yardwork all week on three properties. Looks like I'll be able to post this before the draft disappears, like so many others. If I accidentally move my phone too fast, the draft disappears.

Even if carnivore is clearly not for most people, if you are in a critical situation where it is what’s necessary, it must be tough to eliminate plant foods! Most plant foods are good for us, but…most processed foods are also either plants, or meat flavored with plants! So even though that way of eating is *clearly* not for most of us, it must be TOUGH for the few who do benefit from it, to cut out all those processed foods too and deal with that!!! Again, not saying it is for most of us!!! Clearly not. I would not do it, and neither should most of us, so I really appreciate you not soliciting the carnivore diet like some people do if they are on it. Most people shouldn’t do carnivore because it eliminates fruits and vegetables, but…if things are critical in a way that you are one of the few who should do it, good job!

Yeah! Glad your doing well on carnivore. It's hard at times but it's totally natural for me now. If I add carbs I often pay by having bad cravings. Just enjoy it! I use spices. I sometimes have a keto snack. I saw a video by Dr Cwyes the other day and he has a group of t1 diabetics with a1c in 5.0s! Wow. It can be done! Stop the damage the high blood sugar is causing.

I read an article in the guardian which was wondering why doctor's continued to prescribe medicines rather than suggest low carb diet which also works and is cheaper. I suppose they think people will not stick to the diet?

Thanks Laine, Jen, and Liv. I had already been exposed to low carb in the mid 90's, when I read Dr. Bernstein's book on diabetes. I was researching for my dad's sake. I realized it would be a good weight loss approach, but the weight wouldn't come off. Ten years later, I got the diabetes diagnosis and put Bernstein's info to good use. At least I still have all my toes, due to cutting carbs early in the diagnosis.

Carnivore isn't for everyone. It makes me sooo constipated. Waiting 3 days for a bm is too uncomfortable. Even when I'm not carnivore and on lots of fiber, I MUST have 8 glasses of water a day. My colonoscopy doc explained that 8 oz of water every 2 hours would change my life. Wow, it did! Finally, after 60 years of straining, it's a smooth process without effort. I mentioned it to a nurse friend and she asked why would I drink that much. Seriously, it's only 8 glasses.

liv001... In 1965, it was published that diabetics would do well on low carb diets. Oops. That thought was quickly pushed aside by Big Pharma. Big Pharma has never been about completely curing people. Keep them well enough to still need medicine is their mantra. They pay for publication of medical books, so they control what goes into them, too. Doctors are taught what BP wants them to know. Yes, it's difficult to eat low carb when the family is gobbling processed foods and high carbs.

I belong to a Reversing Diabetes group, and new members have a hard time understanding and shopping low carb. Their families don't want to be bothered with eating healthy. They are addicted to carbs. It's HARD for diabetics to go low carb because of that. I tell them that making the whole family get on board with low carb will help the children who, later, become diabetics. Since I didn't grow up on processed foods, it was easier for me to make the change to low carb.

Take magnesium supplanted daily. Will help ya sleep and keep ya regular! Yup. Funny, my colonoscopy doc told me to quit eating salad since it upset my stomach 🤣 i should have listened to him years ago. Many diabetes don't understand the damage that is happening. My friend died after an amputation. My other friend is losing his sight, congestive heart failure etc. I get it and so do you. Some people just never get it and their kids are going to have the same destiny. I wasn't brought up on processed food but was given sugar

Jen... thanks for the magnesium tip. I added it to my latest batch of homemade electrolyte mix.😁

What is in your batch of electrolyte mix? Or did you just mean the usual pill stuff

Good job!

I do love electrolytes especially when weight drops rapidly.. as that is usually water and those electrolytes need to be replenished.

Jen... I like real ingredients, but on this item, I let it slide. All flavored electrolyte drinks probably have a base founded in Kool-aid. I use packets of Kool-aid, potassium citrate, and magnesium citrate. Mix with water and I add liquid Stevia to taste. The recipe is posted in my journal. Cost is about 12 cents per 12 oz serving. Make any flavor you want.😁
