ugh been going over 1700 calories for last couple weeks time to get back to 1700 or less. Today is my first appointment with a new knee replacement surgeon since my last one said that he would do my surgery if the cortisone shot didn't work and then a month later when I went back and told him it didn't help he refused to do my surgery said I'm too young I need to wait until I am 65yrs old. like I told him I may not be able to walk at all way before then or could be dead before then you never know. Anyhow if I needed surgery like he said I did it should not matter what age I am so here's to get a 2nd opinion from this new surgeon and see what he says about it..There's no fixing the bone spurs multiple ones on each side of the knee and arthritis bad. last surgeon even put in his notes it's in end stage degeneration from arthritis so surgery is only true way to fix it.. This rain has had me in pain so bad barely can sleep and walk..
prayers everything goes smoothly and he's willing to help me by fixing my knee....
Happy Friday Everyone!!!!!

Hi there--please forgive me for butting in on your journal post, not being an active member of the community and having a private account. I've been doing a lot of video research on natural remedies, and the mention of "bone spurs" caught my attention. Apparently, it may be possible to dissolve bone spurs with castor oil by applying compresses so that the oil penetrates through the skin--it also may reduce scar tissue, cysts, gallstones, kidney stones, and other issues. My husband has dealt with a "Schatzki Ring" for decades (scar tissue around the opening of the esophagus which interferes with food consumption--causes blockages and sometimes results in vomiting), so we're using a castor oil compress on his lower chest area. I don't like to speak too soon, but after only 3 days, it already seems to be improved. We're using organic cold-pressed, but I don't know if that's any more effective than a cheaper version. I really hope this helps. Here's the URL to a short video of the lady that I've been listening to on the subject--if it doesn't hyperlink in the comment, hopefully you can do a copy/paste into a browser tab. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S14bnK3y2KM

I am so glad I got a 2nd opinion about my knee! I was surprised how much of a difference between the two orthopedic surgeons. I'm surprised your 1st doctor went back on what he had told you. It makes no sense. Hope you feel better after the 2nd opinion.

I'm glad you went for a second opinion! It's not just about your knee, compensating for a bad joint can through your whole body (back, hips etc.) out of alignment and cause much more pain, discomfort and injury. Hope it goes well!

I got degenerative arthritis at 38 and thought I would have had surgery long ago but I lost weight and it helped a lot.

I'm someone in a similar situation with knee replacement. I just wanted to share the reason they say they won't do it until you're way older. It's because the joint will need to be worked on every 10-20 years. So if you get this procedure young it will increase the surgeries you'll need throughout your life.
