I cannot deal with calories either. Not sure why. But I do keep an eye on the amounts I am eating and focus on the kind of foods that do not make me overeat. Maybe you like your weight where it is. Healthy is the most important thing

No matter the diet that's used. It will ultimately come down to counting calories. To lose weight you have to burn more calories than you take in a day. So ultimately to know that regularly, you'd have to be counting. Also you have to consider can you do low carb for the rest of your life? You want to apply methods that you can take with you for the long term. Just a few things to think about.

the following four are all important: 1. type of food - keto, medium carb. 2. quantity 3. food order (veggies, protein, fat, carbs) 4. timing. 16 fast - 8 hours eat, two meals, during light hours of the day, 4 hours before bedtime, preferable after some physical activity.

I maintained on low carb for 5-6 years and find it very easy to eat without counting everything all the time. Easier to control portions. Still weigh out some foods. Plus was never sick. A year ago I tried to do the same with high carb low fat and gained 10 lbs and got colds, allergies, Covid, flu, and stomach virus in less than a year. Back to low carb, high protein, healthy fats and feeling much more satisfied and better overall. Do what’s best for you, track if it helps but what’s the point if you can’t learn from it.

I am doing Carnivore-OMAD after weight creep of being sloppy with Keto( on /off) last two years. Keto really worked when I paid attention 2017 to 22. I am resetting with Carnivore now and slowly moving back to Keto...when goal weight restored. Love this place. Members sharing gives so much. Thanks

I haven’t counted calories or macros in my journey to better health. I chase the nutritional benefits of my food choices. The result on the scale is I lost 63 lbs and healthier than I have been in years. There are better apps besides FS to monitor micro nutrients and that’s what I use. CICO in my opinion is just a way to justify unhealthy food choices. Good Luck !

Nutritional benefits of stuff like coffee, hamburgers, and pizza/nachos? Saying what we do and actually doing what we say we do is 2 different things. To say that all people who use CICO to justify unhealthy food choices. Is a pretty ignorant and naive blanket statement. You're old enough to know better. Than just lumping every person together without knowing each individual.

My husband and I do low carb eating and it works for us. It has been slow going but my husband has lost 48 lbs and I have lost 31 lbs since Sept 1, 2023. I watch my calories and try to keep it around 1400-1500 a day. My husband only watches carbs and keeps them as low as possible each day, usually 50g or less a day.

Joe… don’t attack me ! You should be smart enough ( maybe not ) to read into my history of posts that nutrition is my focus. Scroll back and it’s obvious what I eat for fuel. My rare posts about less nutritional food choices always include a mention of “ not so good “ and that those are rare choices. I would bet my life that my health is better than most on FS. No issues with high cholesterol, BP, diabetes. I don’t need to post weekly images of my physical body. You on the other hand think what the physical body in the mirror is health. You may have lost weight but that doesn’t make you a professional on healthy life style. Go away and stop trolling me.

@Honeebuns, I have come to the same approach as you, though I do try to be conscious of being as physically active as possible and do chair exercises. I'm in the midst of a program to reset my metabolism and just was able to resume the chair exercises. We all have different bods and chemistry, so we're all going to find a way that works for us. I'm very tuned into the nutritional value of what I eat but if I followed what the ADA recommends, I'd weigh at least 230#...oh wait...I did while following the various 'diets' and didn't start losing until I stopped trying to follow someone else's rules.

Joe…check out my home add nachos and pizza. It’s not Taco Bell or Pizza Hut or Dominoes. You are naive when it comes to nutrition.

My labs were told to me to be some of the best she had saw. I don't get asked much about my BP or cholesterol or any of that stuff. But I'm very healthy! I didn't think I had to post my labs to be considered so? I didn't think I was trolling or bothering you! You just made a really dumb statement imo. But carry on with your rhetoric. Since you're health is so much better than eveyrone on here according to you. You said you eat with nutrition in mind. I just pointed out the few things that you've eaten recently that aren't considered "healthy" or "nutritional" sometimes the truth hurts.

Joe…You are condescending in your words. I read it and hear it as I am sure other members will see. You say “ you do you” and “what works for you “ but you do a blast on my choices. You are attacking me.

I honestly love taco bell. That probably makes me a horrible unhealthy person.
