Not a Happy Camper. The edema from PAH-CHD/COPD kicked into overdrive this month. Nothing to do but take the next two steps forward hoping this time they are bigger than the next fall back... or give up. It all seems so hopeless at times like this, but I'm still not ready to give up.

It is all about building healthy habits. Using will power and deprivation alone lead to yo-yo weight loss. Take one or two of your typical unhealthy foods per week and swap them with healthier alternatives. For example: Swap soda for juice. Then start watering down your juice a little more each week. After a 6 months switch to water. I don't miss soda at all. No craving for it. No will power is required to walk past a row of soda machines. I created a healthy habit to drink only water and unsweet tea. Because it has become a habit, I don't feel deprived.

Yup agreed, Penderg, soda is the elixir of the devil. It's been years since I've had a soda. My diet (a matter of survival) only allows a doctor prescribed amount of water each day. I do have a juice (like cranberry) on rare occasion when a specific medicinal need arises. I also occasionally swap in a cup of buttermilk when I can't digest a solid protein so well. My one liquid splurge each day is an 8oz hot beverage like coffee or spice tea first thing in the morning. I find it clears my night-throat. Unfortunately, my up-Yo's are not so much from bad beverage choices as from bad bouts with my heart, lung, liver and kidney failures which result in edema. Stay healthy my friend. Keep pursuing your best health like you obviously are. You never want to be in the place where your diet choices leave the realm of health to become a matter of life and death.

Thankyou Frittskim32, It's a special treat to me. Fresh salmon is rare to find at a decent price in the Midwest, so I don't get it nearly as often as I'd like. Them Northeasterners have a definite advantage over us Midwesterners when it comes to salmon. Asperagus we got.
