Today I am going to not have any caffeine and see if it might be affecting my sleep. I have a hard time believing that 2 cups of coffee at 5 a.m. is making me not sleep at 2 a.m. That sounds crazy. But I am going to see what happens. And of course only caffeine free pop. I try hard to not intake any caffeine after 3 p.m. (chocolate excluded)but I am tired of disrupted sleep. Melatonin does a big fat nothing for me. Having a new puppy made sleep worse than usual just from checking him and pottying in the middle of the night. (Him and I both).

You’re a riot! Not coffee, 😢😭😭!!! Even when I do sleep well and not having to use the restroom, I am awaken with two little eyes staring at me asking to go out. Sometimes you just can’t win! Melatonin did nothing for my hubby either. He says he can’t ever sleep, yet every time I look at him he’s asleep! Maybe he’s dreaming he’s awake.🤣

Good luck, DP! Not sleeping sucks. FWIW, I find for myself that too much coffee makes it hard to get to sleep, while too much bourbon makes it hard to stay asleep. YMMV.

I'm right there with you. I've been "watching" these lately. Black screen, rain and thunder. Also good to help Chance acclimate to strange noises when we do have weather. He also doesn't fixate on our nightly gunfire. This is my favorite channel because they don't do ads which will wake me up. https://youtu.be/j9V5I6nLy0I

I am 47 and when my hormones started fluctuating, I would wake up at 2 or 3am... it is better now. but in the beginning that was a thing...

are you sleeping too warm at night?? One random thing i learned- exercising hard past 5pm can keep you awake at night. i hope you get a good nights rest!

Wish I could help but I've have insomnia for about 20 years. Worse after retiring. The doctors have told me it's best to have a routine and not to go to bed too early. I don't drink coffee after 11am. Melatonin did nothing for me either. Congrats on the new puppy!

I started the 2/3 am waking about 3 years ago now. Other supps to try are Valerian, Ashwaghanda and GABA. I take 250 mags. of GABA around 3-4 p.m., and it really helps me sleep through the night. Just be carefull/run through your doc if you are taking other meds (the valerian and GABA, ashwaghanda is generally okay for everyone). Good luck.

I hope you can get better sleep soon. I get up multiple times but go right back to sleep. Not sure if I really wake up. I can go to sleep immediately after drinking coffee, but I consume 64 ounces every morning. I have issues with late evening vitamin consumption, though.

Let me know cuz minus the puppy issue I could've written your post. Same coffee amount, same time in morning, same time waking up...it's sooo frustrating!!!💜

Maybe you could try magnesium glycinate. It can make you dreamy if you don’t mind that and start with like 200 mg.

I’m a coffee drinker too. I limit myself to 2 cups a day. I try not to drink any caffeine after 3. I do get up at least twice a night. 1 is is for my older dog that lets me know she needs to go out and 2 is just me. I have tried warm cinnamon milk, it sometimes helps. Best of Luck

Get some magnesium. Make sure it’s the one to support sleep - otherwise you’ll be in the bathroom 😂. Seriously, Itake it with melatonin an hour before bedtime and Zzzzz…😴

I know it sounds out there but have you tried putting on a YouTube sleep meditation video/audio that plays a some megahertz frequency that figuratively massages your brain.

i share your disrupted sleep patterns as well, but a couple of activities i've found useful are 1) to get up and write down everything i'm concerned about or ruminating about so it gets out of my head and i know i can refer to those things in the morning if needed, and 2) write letters or cards to people i love. They love getting old-style correspondence and usually once i've written one i settle down and fall asleep. You just have to remember to put the pen someone where you don't get ink all over yourself when you nod off!
