Finished the week with average calories just under 1800. I was "Good" 😏 yesterday. I had a filling bacon & egg breakfast (late) & popcorn snack. Dinner was a salad with about 3 oz. of ground beef spiced up with Taco seasonings. We didn't have wine so I had a couple of "Cocktails" made from hard seltzer (90 calories) & sparkling water. Hubby decided to eat a piece of pound cake later in the evening while we were watching TV. He offered me some but I declined. I'd already had my dessert earlier & it felt too late to eat anything else. Both my body & my brain concurred....past the eating window 🪟🙃.

After dinner Hubby went out to bring the birdfeeder in for the night. He called me to come look....there was a 5 foot black snake folded in half over the sunroom door....just a foot from the recently vacated bird house!!! I was not afraid of the snake. I know it's a "good" snake that actually eats copperheads....a poisonous snake we have locally. What freaked me out was thinking the babies had just left earlier in the day. While we were eating dinner some of the birds were going crazy squawking & carrying on outside the window. We didn't realize, the snake must have been out there,, then. Over the next few hours it made it's way to the end of the house then back to the bird house. It was all wrapped around it & poked it's head inside to check it out. I took a photo of it over the door but couldn't take one of it on the birdhouse. The thought of it getting those babies was just too much!! Disappointed to find the bird house empty, it eventually unwound itself & made his way back off into the night. Hubby was so intrigued, he kept going back to take a look at what it was doing. We only managed to watch one episode of The Queen's Gambit. 😐 After living in our house for 25 years, this isn't our first encounter with a black snake on the deck or in the gardens. As long as they're at least a couple of feet away I'm OK. But, they're not welcome to have our baby birds for a snack. Mice & lizards are fair game.

I haven't exercised today. Not feeling it, but looks like the sun's going to cooperate & we can walk. It started out overcast & rainy but cleared up.

I washed & refilled a couple of the hummingbird feeders. The little buggers are voracious right now. I cut flowers to fill a couple of vases then read my book. I'm on my 3rd Robert Galbraith. I've worked my way back to the first one in his Cormoran Strike series. I thought the last one I read was the first, but turned out to be the 2nd. Oh well it's interesting reading out of order & knowing how some of the back story ends up. Each book has a mystery detective case, so I don't know how they end up.

Chicken breasts for dinner....not sure how I'm going to prepare them but some garbanzo beans in the pantry are calling my name 😊

Trying to drink more water, today. I noticed I didn't drink a lot Saturday....drank more yesterday....and I had more favorable results on the scale. Coincidence...maybe.
