Fell off the wagon due to life happenings and actually reached my highest weight ,91 kgs . I’m so disappointed but feel motivated to embark on a 30 day water fast which I’m starting tomorrow, 8 July .

My goal is to lose 35+ pounds . I will be daily documenting my journey here so feel free to follow 😊😊 I’ve seen it work for many people , it will work for me and maybe for you too !

In these 30 days , I will be drinking water , unsweetened/no milk tea and coffee and a “ginger , lemon , cayenne pepper, tumeric , honey “ concoction 😊

I will also be taking a tablet a day of multivitamins
Just to make sure i have enough of those since I will not be eating any food .
Let’s do this !

91 kg Lost so far: 0 kg.    Still to go: 17 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
Gaining 1.1 kg a Week

do t do it without medical supervision. i have a friend that did something likewise and it messed his metabolism up so badly he picked up more weight after and could not manage to loose it again.its less dramatic but more sustainable to loose weight slowly through calory counting

I agree with Lallie. If you even get there on a 30 day water fast you will have completely ruined your metabolism and will struggle for months if not years afterwards. It is hard to gain weight, I get it I've been there, and the quick fixes as so desirable because as a society we have no tolerance for waiting, but in this regard you really should reconsider. No trainer, dietician, nutritional expert or sane person would say yes a 30nday water fast is the best way to achieve your goal

Try fasting for about 18-20 hours a day. You still have to eat healthy during your eating periods.

You will battle with digestion after a long fast. I did a 7 day fast, and the weight came back quick and fast. And I felt like crap. During the fast I was great but you just dream about what you can break your fast with. A 30 day fast, you will have to drink broths and liquids for days before you can actually eat to prevent referring syndrome. The thing you really should do Is change your eating habits. To do intermittent fasting and eating small healthy meals. A habit that you can sustain and maintain for years to come. So I agree with lallie too.

Refeeding* syndrome

With OMAD you will lose in the same rate as if you were fasting for 30days. You just have to choose your meal wisely. But even that in my opinion is not sustainable. I did it and my animal brain took over. I was hungry all the time. Nothing could satisfy my hunger. I did omad for a year. But that was my experience. Others have had more success keeping it off. I seem to do better with a 3 meal schedule. But I’m a stress and emotional eater. My problem is mental. Good luck though in whatever you choose to do🍀

I also fast on6 a 16:8 schedule - so I eat between 10am and 6pm, still 3 meals, 2 if my day is just too busy. It is far more sustainable for me, otherwise I also just get hungry. People can advise all they want but in the end it's your decision. Your health needs to come first and starving yourself there really isn't the way to go❤️

I did the slender wonder diet for 3 months - injections and all. It's a less than 500cal a day regime where the injections basically help you cope with the hunger. I lost weight definitely! But as much fat loss as I had I lost more muscle mass - when I was done and at my goal weight my metabolism was so messed up and my muscle mass (which drives a huge metabolism) was gone - I gained it all back and more. In the years since I never over ate but I reached over 100kg by the time my kids were born. In the last 18 months I have lost 24kg, and I'm still not where I want to be, and maybe it takes other people faster, but I have had to work on exercise to gain muscle mass much harder than I would have otherwise. I made the decisions I made, and I am still reaping the "benefits" 🥴 it's hard when weight loss takes time, one day I feel like "man i am actually getting there!" The next day I feel like a slug! But I am determined to do this the sustainable way, which yes takes longer but I want to set myself up for life

Great advice waistaway💖 we can learn from each other’s experiences. But like you said. Our choices are our own to make. We will support each other no matter what our choices are. At the end of the day, it’s what is sustainable in our own lifestyle. When I was single and had no kids. Fasting was sustainable. I was doing it before it became a thing. With kids. Not sustainable. Because you have to cook and are around food all the time. So we have to change to fit our new lifestyles. My kids have to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks because they eat like mice, they don’t get much down, and they want mommy and daddy to eat with them.

Have you tried small portions and eat often? It helped me to get down to 72kg after years being stuck at 78-80kg. I am eating say 8:00-11:00-14:00-17:00-20:00. For me it was unbearable to wait long hours. But when I know that in 3 hours I can have again something to eat - it is much easier for me mentally, and you basically never get so hungry that your train goes down the hill with no brakes. Hunger will always win. Of course, I am still trying not to go over 1500-1600 kcal of balanced meals a day and making the good quality food choices. Since I don't need that extra fat but want to use my own stored - I am cooking lean meat, almost no oil, only good slow carbs from whole foods, lots of water, minimizing fruits as it is also just fast sugars. And if I really want something sweet - buying those expensive blueberries and do savour every bit of it 😊😊.

I appreciate your concerns and all your contributions, I loved reading all !! However I have done all the research needed on what water fast is , how to do it and it’s dangers . I’m not diving in blindly . It was after a long period of research and deliberation that I decided I will embark on the journey . Water fast , as opposed to what all of you think ,is actually very good for your body. And no , I won’t have destroyed my metabolism in any way after the 30 days of water fasting , You just need to have a well planned re-feeding process after the fast . If anything , I’m giving my body time to heal and “ re-wake “ all the functions it was sleeping on due to it focusing on metabolizing all the crap I have been feeding it . I’m giving my body time to replace old cells , heal diseases and any abnormalities in me( this include even cancers or tumorous cells). You can do all ur research on it , u will realize that it’s very recommended that a person does a water fast at least once or twice a year . It’s very good for you . You just have to make sure u take vitamins , have a good share of sunshine , drink as much water as u feel is enough ( not too much ) and most importantly keep a positive mindset !

Well then you know honey is not included in a proper water fast if you are after the benefits you say you are after. It’s good you have done the research. And hope all goes well.

The honey in the concoction is more for my immune system, remember we are in the covid 19 times . And thank you for the best wishes !

Having anything over 50 calories while fasting, breaks your fast. So don’t go over a teaspoon of honey? A tablespoon of honey will kick you out of ketosis and you will end up losing muscle not fat. So break it up to 3 teaspoons a day to be safe. Remember all the other ingredients you will be adding to your concoction. Work out the calories. Just so you don’t waste your time. Going through a whole 30days and all your body did was eat through your muscle mass and not your fat.

Just some feedback on water fasting based on my own experiences. I wouldn't suggest you start off the bat with a 30 day extended fast, especially if you've never done it before. You have to prepare your body and mind for something like this and make sure you stock up on vitamins and electrolytes. The longest I've fasted was 14 days and I prepped well in advance by doing keto, intermittent fasting, omad, alternate day fasting. I would suggest you start small. Perhaps a calorie deficit, low carb/high fat/protein cycling/carnivore. So many options out there. It really is trial and error and remember we all differ. All the best and when you find what works for you just be consistent.

To clear the honey issue , this is how I make my concoction: I blend a teaspoon of honey , 3 full lemons , 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper and 1/4 teaspoon tumeric power . After blending I get a thick concentrate which I keep in the fridge for a week . So daily I consume a teaspoon of the concentrate in my unsweetened green tea . So u can see that I don’t eat even a teaspoon a day of honey . It’s not for taste , it’s for my immune system. Thank you for your advice , yes I have done many different kind of diets and fast before . I’ve experienced the pros and cons and in my experience the pros outweighed the cons . I’ve done Omad , keto, intermittent fasts and raw veganism . Based on my past experience on these , I have an idea of what my body can and can’t handle and how I have to tune my mindset to get through it . Remember if u say it’s not possible , it won’t be . And yes I have stacked up on vitamins !! 😊😊😊

I am also not against fasting. I've heard great things. From my side, fasting has messed me up more than it helped me. Don't do it without medical supervision. Even the people who do it say that.
