The weather is so gorgeous today...a bit cooler with lovely breezes, a few floaty clouds ⛅☁️☀️ The deck was calling my name....come outside and exercise. So, I didn't even have to talk myself into it. I also walked the stairs down to the river to see if the Rhododendron are blooming. There were a few blooms but the rain seems to have beaten them up a little 😕

I ended the day yesterday several hundred calories under. That was still having a lovely dinner with wine...and dessert.

We watched a disappointing documentary about Justin Timberlake on Amazon last night. Almost no music & it was obvious he didn't collaborate with them. A total gossipy, fluff piece.

We had fun with the birds at the feeder & eating peanuts this morning. Lots of Jays and the female Cardinal has been coming around a lot. A Grackle showed up & helped himself to a mouthful of sunflower seeds. So far the crows have just hung out in the trees waiting for fallout on the ground.

I think dinner is going to be leftover porkchops and some kind of veggies. I'm planning Shrimp & Grits this week, after seeing Shir's post last week. Gonna wait a day or two cause that definitely won't be low calorie 😀

So after seeing Mermee's Transformation Tuesday post, I decided I might have to retire my "I'll never have a flat tummy, cause I gave birth to 2 large babies" excuse. The youngest of those babies is 42 😁. I may never have a flat tummy, but I need a new reason.

You'd be surprised what dropping an additional 15-20 pounds of fat will uncover. My beach community is full of moms with bikini bods. Just a daily exercise (biking, running and yoga are big here) and small portions of healthy foods. My BFF had 4 kids, but she dances in studios and surfs a lot. Could make it your new goal for the second half of 2021. 💛😃

Love it, no excuses! I waver between "we have different potential and genetic limits we need to be realistic about" and "anything is possible" (if I'm in a bad mood, I'll think "with PEDs and surgery"). I did hear once that sometimes it's just good to admit, "I could have a flat stomach or I could have an 8-pack but I'm not willing to sacrifice certain pleasures or impose certain practices to get there." And that's okay.

Being a Mom may not be an excuse for not having a Bikini Bod. My daughter actually had 3 kids & was tiny with a flat tummy afterwards. At my age the skin has lost some elasticity that no amount of exercise makes it tighten up. LC, you hit the nail on the head. I want to be healthy & look good in my clothes. The most I might want to lose is 10 lbs. putting me at 135. But, I'm not sure I'd want to exercise & eat less to maintain that. I have figured out I can maintain between 140 to 145 with some exercise and eat my favorite foods, enjoy wine with dinner and have dessert...as long as I do it all in moderation.

Mermee, I try to remember to hold my tummy in. It definitely makes a difference! When I was bored doing my toning exercises in my bedroom, I tried to find ways to get motivated. I love being outdoors & I am blessed to have the perfect spot to use as my "Gym". Seeing what you have accomplished definitely motivates me...even if I never have a flat tummy. LC, you inspire me as well....even though you'll never see me run 🏃‍♀️😁

Yep, Sherry, I'm at that point too. Current diet and activity keep me very happy and not looking too bad. How much of that will I give up to see a little more improvement? Don't know, we'll see. Recently I saw a study about how eating foods you find satisfying (including "bad" foods like burgers and ice-cream) in the context of a calorie deficit works to keep you satiated, not just through a psychological mechanism, but through actual physiological decreases in ghrelin. Amazing. I'll have to find the link to it. But it's another piece of evidence in favor of "moderation" and enjoying food while reaching goals.

Sherry, I'd say if you're eating 1900 calories a day on average without very much exercise and maintaining your weight, you are in a very good place, no need to run.

LC, I raised my calorie allowance to 1900 April 26th. The first 2 weeks I averaged a little over. Since then my weekly average has been a little under. I do eat what I like, but I put thought into how it will all balance out. I consider myself moderately active. Logging gives me a comfort level knowing my food choices will help prevent weight gain. I'm willing to work at that. Not so willing to exercise more than I do. The exception might be doing projects around the house where I expend more energy.

1900 calories seems like a completely normal number of calories for a person of your weight with your activity level. I'm always shocked when I see people advocating for sub-1500 calories daily to maintain weight just because someone is female or not an athlete. That sounds like there's a problem that's only going to get worse the more you cut. You still need enough food to functional well. Sounds like a healthy metabolism to me.
